Whatever happened to this? I didn't have my nose to the ground about this at the time. I understand a fan discovered the collection and purchased it and discussed it vaguely. This is still the only definite article about the collection and then the speculation at SS. For years I didn't think so much about it, because I also never heard the tracks... until recently. It does exist and it's quite wonderful! Did anybody eventually claim the release as to why it got 'out there'? What's the current verdict on this collection? It's quite lovely hearing 'Awake' with Brian's falsetto without it piercing my ear-drums... What is appealing, is hearing these without any modern processing and alterations. While it could be remastered better, it's a far better 'natural' listen to what has been dished up lately. Thoughts? Comments about the set? Those who have heard, what do you think?

Do you have a link? [Oops. That was more than a little naive.]

I'd love to be able to listen to Old Movie without hearing vocals that have been needlessly compressed to death. It bothers me every time I try to listen to it on the Feel Flows box-set.

There are songs on there where the sound is low - the demo of Mt Vernon would have to be altered somewhat, though it's a great listen - so I hear...

I was more surprised how good the 15 Big One's era material comes off. Sea Cruise, Running Bear.... How cool is it hearing Brian break out Ruby Baby!
Wow! I mean this album deserves a complete deluxe re-working.

One of the nice things about the new Uncut Beach Boys special is that it gives 15BO a break. Some of the other star reviews are a little odd, to put it mildly...

Perhaps it could/will leak when everything on these CDRs have been officially released? I also would love to hear stuff like ”Awake” and ”Cuddle Up” without the tweaking and processing… but ’til then I have the new and expanded Sounds of Summer collection to tide me over! 😄

Sorry for being slightly off topic, but have you come across a physical copy of this? It’s available in digital form but have yet to reach my local newsstand.

Holy cow...not a fan of the song, but that is incredible...wonder what the source is on that one; I've never heard it not hissy and 72 generations removed before!

Yeah, 15 Big Rock'n'Roll Ones. 'Shake Rattle and Roll' with Al on lead vocals.... Obviously he is made for this kind of stuff. Great to hear it in great quality. Wow, I love it..... I understand they've been floating about for a while, it's just I never heard them.... Good stuff.

Whoa! That sounds amazing… I’ve listened to this song many, many times but hearing it without those layers of tape hiss and with proper EQ is pretty fantastic. Thanks for posting!

I'll just say I've heard these before... The mixes of "Old Movie" and "Hawaiian Dream" are... strange. Both of them have their individual percussive element boosted in the mix to the point of distraction. On "Hawaiian Dream" it's the maraca or shaker. On "Old Movie" I can't quite pinpoint what it is, but it sounds vaguely similar to somebody slapping along on their thigh. You can hear these parts on the Feel Flows versions, but thankfully they are much less pronounced in those mixes. Thankfully for your purposes the percussion on both songs stops once the vocals kick in, IIRC. DISCLAIMER: I don't own any copies of these, so I'm unable to help anybody in that regard.

Could one of the experts here please go through the track lists for these and indicate what's been released subsequently and what we're still waiting for...officially, that is! My Dad talked with several folks with insider connections in the late 70s/80s and said that the track selection process for 15BO was characterized as "beyond bizarre" and "a bloodbath." He also said on more than one occasion that the original idea of a double album might have made a stronger impression on everyone at the time. Does anyone have a sense of what other original material might have been used to fill out a full LP? The track list for these CDs suggests that there was clearly enough to make a full LP of oldies...

Well, it's pretty wild but I'm pretty sure I'm listening to it right now. I thought it was fake or a fan mix or something at first.. but "Awake", "Out In The Country", "Carry Me Home", "Hard Times", "We Gotta Groove", "Hey There Momma", "Short Skirts", all sound clear as day. Have never even heard of "I Really Love You" or "11th Bar Blues". Only problem is out of the 49 or so tracks, many from the handwritten track listing are not present here.

Do you have a link? No links will be forthcoming. If a link to a bootleg is posted on the board, I'll have to delete it. Sorry 'bout that.

Personally, I have no issue with the instrumentation on either track, but - on Feel Flows (which is the only source from which I have ever heard them) - the vocals are so processed that it sounds almost as if they're synthetic and were created entirely on computers. Really unpleasant, and so disappointing because the tracks themselves are so obviously lovely. I have no idea why Mark and co chose to do this when mastering Feel Flows.
