Marilyn Rovell sounds great.
I would love to hear all the tracks.
Unfortunately, even though many have, and will be, released, it won't be these versions, as the trend now is to remix and remaster. It's still cool to hear them officially, but the vintage mixes, in great sound quality, is where it's really at for me.

Yep, if these tracks were to get officially released now, they'd sadly be '2022 mixes' with a load of echo on the vocals and compression and treble and so on. It makes it all the more heartbreaking that they weren't included on the 2000 2-fer CDs. Back then it was about the Beach Boys and not about the guys doing the remastering.

Obviously no one can post links to bootlegged recordings but, you know, if anyone has a link and wants to drop me a private message...

I remember that super clean version of Awake showing up on YouTube about 6 or 7 years ago. It sounded great but was gone quite quickly. I recall the vocal being softer and smoother than the Feel Flows version, where there is a bit too much boosting of its “reedy” frequencies.

Just one of the many, many songs on Feel Flows that sound inferior to versions heard or available elsewhere...

I guess it’s gone from Youtube and hasn’t been re-uploaded? The old link isn’t working. 😖

Hi, I got that a long time ago from a fan album called Hawthorne Sunset. For some reason, the version in that comp was trimmed in half, so I artificially extended it to match the length of the regular track. IMO it's not particularly worth searching for at this point, now that we have the entire track officially released.

I've been wanting to hear these for a very long time. As have I! I remember when Klay posted on Smiley about it. Never thought something like that would turn up in a record store!

Personally, I have no issue with the instrumentation on either track, but - on Feel Flows (which is the only source from which I have ever heard them) - the vocals are so processed that it sounds almost as if they're synthetic and were created entirely on computers. Really unpleasant, and so disappointing because the tracks themselves are so obviously lovely. I have no idea why Mark and co chose to do this when mastering Feel Flows. Sorry, I realize upon re-reading my post that what I wrote was confusing. It's the Brother Years bonus tracks versions of the two songs that have the jacked-up percussion. Ideally if they ever get released, you would theoretically be able to edit the vocal sections off the Brother Years versions to the purely instrumental portions of the Feel Flows tracks to create definitive versions of both songs. Hopefully that makes more sense.

Pretty sure the versions of “Old Movie” and “Hawaiian Dream” that are on those discs aren’t finished mixes, just roughs.

I had no idea that they recorded lyrics for this track, besides the Christmas tune.

Holy cow..."Hey There Momma" is much better than I ever imagined something from its time could be possible! it's so devastatingly head-shaking that they didn't go through with releasing that rarities package.

Amazing… With lyrics? Who knew? Not me! I wonder why there is a slight pitch change, like a Walkman running out of batteries. Not complaining though, sound quality is stellar!

Yeah well, that'll end future projects, considering it's probably the best it'll sound before the guys
put there greasy hands on them and mess with them for 'the kids'.

Seriously, would a covers album of 15 Big Rock and Roll Ones be any worse that Dylan's Good as I Been to You? I don't think so...

We Gotta Groove - with lyrics!! Great to hear these tracks in such good quality. And that alternate version of It's Like Heaven is lovely.
(Not sure why whoever uploaded them has written 'TRANS RIGHTS!' in the video description though. Somewhat cringe-inducing and utterly irrelevant to the Beach Boys. Hey ho...)
