Apparently someone on one of the other message boards has acquired a copy of FF with a different track listing. Don't provide a link or anything... Wasn’t sure if I was aloud, but it’s Hoffman

The Mrs. and I were just at the Micky Dolenz / Mike Nesmith show in Milwaukee. During intermission I saw a dude wearing a blue tie-dye Feel Flows shirt! Hey, Feel Flows t-shirt guy -- if you're reading this, my wife wants to know where you got the shirt!

Hey, Feel Flows t-shirt guy -- if you're reading this, my wife wants to know where you got the shirt! How was Mike? I've seen footage from a month or so ago where he looked like he'd lost half his body weight and seemed out of it. He was clearly ill at the time. I'm hoping everything is okay now

Honestly, the only thing unusual about him was that he didn't play any instruments. (From what I hear he's dealing with back issues and the weight of a guitar could flare 'em up.) Otherwise he was great. He looked thinner, but so did Micky.

The latest issue of Uncut lists "Feel Flows" as #2 on their Reissues, Live & Compilations list of the year 2021 (to be beaten only by Can's "Live in Stuttgart 1975").

As someone who bought the five-CD set...I just got the 2-CD set from the library...because I want the other "Susie Cincinnati" mix, dammit! (Isn't there something on the vinyl set that's different too?)

One can purchase a download of “Susie Cincinnati” individually from the 2CD version on the iTunes Store for $1.29, if it can be verified that the download version is the correct unique mix.

I think the 4LP has a version of "Where Is She" without the flown in backing vocals later on.

True, and it’s completely ridiculous to me that you can stream millions of songs on Apple Music in a lossless format for $99 a year, but if you purchase a song, it’s lossy.

If you're willing to pay extra (and are in one of the regions it's available) then Qobuz offers track by track downloads of both the 5CD and 2CD editions in CD quality. It's about £1.99 per track for me.

So I bought the colored vinyl set as a Christmas present to myself...partly because I'm a slut for colored vinyl, partly because, well...I'd heard really good things about it.
So far I've only listened to the two Surf's Up records -- the remastered album, which many have told me sounds much better on vinyl than on the CD, and the outtakes record.
Well...one of the people who claimed that the vinyl sounds better has the exact same turntable I have, and, well...no. Just no. It's way too bright. My only complaint about the Analog Productions version was that Al's vocal is distorted on "Take a Load Off Your Feet." Well...on the Feel Flows colored vinyl of same, it's much worse. He's so sibilant that you'd swear Sylvester the Cat was singing.
And I thought I heard a lot of wow and flutter. I looked at the stylus, and the cartridge was going back and forth so much that it was practically a pendulum. Damn thing was pressed WAY off-center. When I catalogged it on discogs (dot) com, I saw some comments from several others claiming the same: pressing was off-center. And when they sent the records back to Capitol for a replacement, the replacements had the exact same problem.
The outtakes disc was pressed a bit off-center, but not terribly, still listenable. The overall sound, though, stunning, I gotta say.
I also noticed that the remaster disc is thin and flimsy, while the outtakes disc is thick, rigid, and heavy; almost 180g, really. Didn't see any other comments about that though.
Haven't listened yet to the Sunflower records, but the folks on discogs said that they're noisy, as if there were a big scratch all through the recording. One user said that repeated cleanings improved it though.

Cool! It's a Spotify exclusive link - you can't get there if you bring up The Beach Boys website and follow every link. I got my Feel Flows T-shirt last September, 2021. But, this being the Pacific Northwest, there hasn't been a day warm enough since then to wear it yet!

I would have loved to see The Beach Boys release the tape that eventually circulated on bootlegs as the Landlocked album. Although those bootlegs can be found in very good quality, they still fall short of what the album could sound like. This box set would have been a good place to include Landlocked. Given all the unreleased material included here and elsewhere, do you think it’s possible for one to compile the original Landlocked album with at least all the correct versions, if not the original mixes, from officially released sources? It wouldn't be a problem at all to compile newer tracks from Feel Flows to make an updated 'Landlocked' album. If not upgraded "original" mixes, then I'd be perfectly happy with the newer mixes. There's a couple of nicely cleaned up Landlocked boots out there, so you'd still have both old and new comps in the collection. Not to beat a dead horse about the latest mastering of "Surf's Up," on the Feel Flows box set, but I finally got around to compiling a " Landlocked" compilation drawn completely from tracks on the Feel Flows box set. But, unfortunately, I had to go to the 2012 CD release of the Surf's Up album to get "Take a Load Off Your Feet" and "Lookin' At Tomorrow (A Welfare Song)" because those two tracks on the box set are mastered so horribly, and differently than all the other tracks. They really pop out when they're lined up directly with the rest of the tracks.

Same goes for most Beach Boys albums in fact. They have a warmth to them that has been lacking from all subsequent reissues.

By the way, listening to this for the first time as not a bootleg, I really think Landlocked is my favorite 70s Beach Boys album. It’s at least 50% Brian Wilson wholly written or collaborations, a couple excellent Dennis songs, Mike and Al. I actually think it’s better than either Sunflower or Surf’s Up, although of course those LPs have some great songs not on Landlocked.

But there was no final “Landlocked” album

Whatever or however that lineup of songs came to existence that bootlegged call “Landlocked,” or what anybody calls it, I’ve listened to it in that form for over 40 years, and it’s one of my favorite collections of songs by The Beach Boys.
