So...did I hear right that those with the 2-CD version have a mix of "Susie Cincinnati" that, due to logistics, is different from the equivalent on the 5-CD set? I think AJ nixed-out the car effects on the 5-CD Set (not sure about the Vinyl Set), but it would have cost too much to do the same with SC on the 2-CD Set .. so the 2-CD Set has the car effects on it. That's how I understand it

Mastering involves a lot more than just sequencing mixed songs, it requires a whole string of tricks, including re-EQing, compression, limiting, and other effects. So, if you are going to allow a remix for one of the songs on the 5-CD set, you'd have to remaster it after remixing it. Why not just substitute the new master for both CDs. I can understand mastering the songs differently for vinyl VS CD VS streaming. But why master the 2-CD songs differently than the 5-CD songs? It makes little sense to me that the mastering is done for the 2-CD set, and then all over again differently for the 5-CD set.

It makes little sense to me that the mastering is done for the 2-CD set, and then all over again differently for the 5-CD set. Alan was talking about how it was Al who wanted to change things, more than the others. The question he was asked was about who among the group members helped, or wanted to help them work on tracks. That's when he mentioned Al and Jeff wanting to do a remix on "Seasons In the Sun". The 2-Cd was mastered and ready to go with the car effects version. Done deal. To do a new mastering of the 2-Cd was cost prohibitive. They were still working on the 5-Cd set when Al dropped in with his plan to do changes- it wasn't mastered, yet. Al, late to the gate, as usual! As Andrew mentioned in the other book-set thread, there were other reasons for the delay, not just the vinyl shortage. Sure he's right, but all that Alan Boyd said Tuesday was that he wanted all the configurations to come out at the same time. Things were still being moved around on the 5-disc, and I guess the vinyl... I don't have the vinyl in-hand. He did say something about tracks not making it to the digital release, or another digital release. I'd have to go look, our Alan (Smith) posted that question on the EHF chat later in the night. I don't use Spotify or any streaming services to hear music other than youtube. Streaming services just eliminate tracks at will, don't they? You pay, and they delete later. Seems ridiculous. That's not collecting, that's borrowing for a cost. I'm hoping to get the vinyl set if it's still available in the colored variation when I can afford it. EDIT: I tried to find where Alan Boyd was talking about the digital releases. Couldn't. All he said to Alan Smith (here at EHF) was that he wasn't involved with the streaming versions of the set. It might have been something he said in the BBTalk portion of the night, and might have been referring to the SMiLE box. Okay, now I've set myself up for someone to take pleasure in correcting me. Have at it, boss. If you haven't watched the BBTalk portion yet, you should. It's up on youtube, and easy to move to anywhere in the show.

Spewin'! My box set still has not arrived, and I got in early with ImportCD's. On top of that, Australia Post is closing for a few days, because they are apparently too far behind sorting mail. Our mail service has gone to complete crap over the last few years..... and I'm Grumpy.

The CD mastering file for the 2 CD set got sent to the manufacturer, so the manufacturer could start printing te 2 CD sets. Meanwhile, then Al says, hey can we nix the car sounds in this here track. Well, Al, to late for the 2 CD, cos it’s-a being pressed and packaged as we speak, but we can sort it for the 5CD set.

So apparently, according to an email I received, the coloured vinyl release date was put back to today. Has anybody had a copy before today? I have been notified that it is in transit - I cannot wait to get my hands on it!
Meanwhile Disc 4 of the CD set is keeping me good company as I work...

Yeah, still no sight of mine. Glad I opted to also download on the day - damm the expense for the best Beach Boys release in a decade! I expected it would take a few weeks to get here.

So as a collector I need to buy the 2CD version along with my 5CD version to get the other mix of “Susie Cincinnati.” Are there any other variations between the two sets? I think mix differences were discussed elsewhere, but that was before these were actually released.
I think I like the order of the bonus tracks on the 2CD version better than the 5CD version for general listening, but actually an ideal CD would be to combine all the bonus tracks on the 2CD version onto one CD, and ditch the remastered Sunflower and Surf’s Up albums, so I could hear just the new material.

So, I got my Feel Flows T-Shirt. This is what they sent me!!! View AttachmentStraight is great... if anything is the complete opposite of Feel Flows, it's that. Yes! They were nice enough to give me a refund when I asked for it - because the Beach Boys Feel Flows shirt is no longer available. Perhaps they got a cease and desist order from The Beach Boys. At first they wanted to give me a voucher for a different shirt, but I wrote them saying I wanted a refund. The shirt they sent me is 2XL, so I wonder what somebody who ordered the "Straight is Great" shirt thinks of his much smaller Feel Flows shirt.

Maybe the merch people should take a cue - that was a great v-neck design. But it would not surprise me if they got a cease-and-desist order. That drove me crazy at C50 - along the roads to the venues you would see tables hawking the BB stuff and you know they were not selling bona ride stuff. It’s not right.

Then they have the MadeWorn store that has really cool designs, but the cheapest tshirt is $175:

My all time favorite stuff - the all cotton hoodies. I prefer them with zippers, not the over-your-head-mess-up-your-hair kind. The concert stuff looked pretty cool but I couldn’t get near the tables, like 5 deep. Feel Flows shirts.

Obviously the contents aren’t much different, would be interesting to find out if any of the mixing other than seasons is different, but still fascinating. Personally, my guess is that this was the version of FF that was mixed, mastered, and ready to go back in July 2020. Mark did mention that they added a couple tracks during the Q&A posted here, those could be the four tracks missing from this. Also Al’s seasons changes were made recently. Finally, the four tracks missing all have a different ISRC number. While almost all of these tracks start with USGJP2000, those four start with USGJP2100 None of this is very useful information, but it’s still absolutely fascinating to see how the tracklist changed over the year, if that is in fact what this tracklist is.
