Begs the question why there is a function for reporting drastically changed content in the first place. It might be because with these petitions it is almost a disclaimer for ill-will, retaliation, and improper purpose. It is also because the petitions are not vetted. There is no oversight for proper purpose and motive. This was all of that - rolled into one. And he hates Boris Johnson. Political people only care about power and control - that is his world. Maybe he is angling for a job... Just for starters. People got sucked in. It was a shiny thing, and seductive in that that header photo was his tossing chum in the water, regardless of whether you agree or not. It should have spotlighted an animal not a human. It was click bait. There is a whole world out there that is not mine - but belongs to the disrespected millions who live in a rural setting, who hunt and fish, but who are a huge business with a TV station dedicated to some of their interests, carried by almost every satellite and cable provider, called the Outdoor Channel. It would not exist if there was no recognition that there was a market out there to be connected to. The only way is to keep hounding them for the “recall” of that petition - for the unbridled fraud and deception, that it is. Stay on his case. Thank you John Manning! Let's not confuse the hunting and fishing promoted by Outdoor Life with trophy hunting.

The petition is now closed, but it appears the signatures will still be sent to Boris Johnson, not The Beach Boys. This sucks so much.

The petition is now closed, but it appears the signatures will still be sent to Boris Johnson, not The Beach Boys. This sucks so much. Wata - here’s the good news - when you flip it - and send it to Boris - Boris, himself gets to call it out as fraud because it was initially conceived as a BB-event petition and “converted” fraudulently and misleadingly to target Boris. Falsely appropriation because they were generated to attack the event and not Boris’ policies. Someone needs to tell Boris and put him on notice of the fraud. There are cut-off dates and BB related text, to support that. Any signatories after the event can belong to Boris. Next step...contact Boris’ office via whatever channels are available, whether in writing or email, Facebook or Twitter and attack it, collaterally. You are not powerless! No time to wring your hands! Act! The pen is mightier than the sword! Their clock needs to be cleaned! change.org is not very smart because they made themselves part of the fraud. Two very good points to bring to the attention to Mr. Johnson. Stay the course- these people think they can wear you down and make you give up. Don’t. 🏋️♂️ Go get ‘em. Twitterize them.

This is all news to me, but then I've been away for a couple of weeks and seemingly missed all the fun. Reading through most of it (I gave up half way and almost lost the will to live) I was probably better off not knowing.

And private shows are just that - private. Thank you for that. That article displayed unusual candor.

I have also seen a claim something like all BRI board members approve license bookings. Don't know how or if that is verified.
Don't know how that would work or what difference it makes to the end result.

Lazy argument, IMO. Too much of an 'everyone else is doing it, so why shouldn't we do it' angle.

It does show pervasiveness among other, younger, even more high-profile entertainers, and I did not get that the author was an apologist but pointing out the hypocrisy just going after the BBs. And attempting to balance things out a little. Because it seems a little out-of-whack.

Sleeping dogs were not left to lie? Ok, then.
The article displayed an astonishing amount of whataboutery, like some of the previous posts in this thread. He also implies that because Brian "has a long, long history of being easily led and badly advised", he probably didn't really mean to ask people to sign the petition. You all happy with that?
'Saintly' Queen and 'kindly old Elton John'? Bizarre. And he is unable to make a decent argument without swearing and hitting CAPS LOCK.
It doesn't do much for me, I'm afraid.
Now, if Peter Gabriel, having penned "Biko", were to have played Sun City, then that's a proper comparison. But he didn't. (As far as I know.)
If Sting, after having campaigned for the people of the rainforests, then played a gig for "Destroy Rainforests International", ditto. Since Sting didn't write anything negative about the evil slayer of Uzbekistan, then we can conclude there were no principles involved and yes, he was chasing the money.
US politics isn't my business, but it is eye-opening when artists who rail against democratically elected President Trump then go on to play for bloodthirsty dictators.
Oh, look! Yep, it's all about the money....
