"Good Vibrations" should've been a stand alone single. It has no place amongst these other eerie stripped-back concoctions. My sentiments entirely! But there you are. It is what it is. History has spoken. If anything has to go (and that seems to be a prerequisite of this fascinating game), it's "GV". What a wonderful description of the others, mfp!

Voted for Whistle In because it feels more like a "snippet"(like all those unused H & V sections) than a full song. Plus the other songs are too good to vote out . Love With Me Tonight. (Loved Gettin' Hungry too). Wonderful would have to be next due to its inferiority to the first Smile version. I actually prefer the Smiley version of Wind Chimes. I agree G & V doesn't fit but I'm voting purely on how much I like the songs.
Smiley Smile is a very important album to me- it a 2fer with Wild Honey it basically made me a fan. I like all the songs on it.
Great comment, Ian - I love Smiley Smile, it’s one of my favourites in the catalogue. Whistle In, as the Smiley alternate manifestation of Do You Like Worms (the Mahala Lou Lei bit), is just adorable and a great “lite” closer after the complexities of Smiley Wonderful

This is already too tough. It's like the greatest single of all time, the two psychedelic chants, and the two wayward (and even more creepily psychedelic) sons of Smile. Have gone with WMT but only cos there's a better version out there, and the others are (to my mind) just about, perhaps, maybe, possibly the definitives… more or less.

Good Vibrations... again. Again, one of the best songs of all time, but it does not fit at all. It’s like putting County Fair on Pet Sounds, it just doesn’t work. I almost went with whistle in, but to me it actually fits as kind of an outro, like how Our Prayer was supposed to just be an intro to Smile.

I voted off Whistle In. When all is said and done, whether we think a song belongs on an album or not, we wind up in the end voting for the best song on a particular album.

I love Whistle In. I voted for Wind Chimes, because the SMiLE is so much better.

I love Whistle In. I voted for Wind Chimes, because the SMiLE is so much better. I first heard the SS version of "Wind Chimes" on a French radio station in '67 and was utterly blown away by it. To my mind it put The Beach Boys up there in the forefront of all things psychedelic. So I have a soft spot for it that the more down-to-earth SMiLE version could never occupy.

Poor "Whistle In" is being whistled out! Didn't expect "Whistle In" would get so much heat. Looks to be burned wood.

After seeing some comments above, I checked in to see if the vast towering stone edifice of GV was starting to crumble. Of course not!
"Vote for your least favourite". It's not that hard, peeps.

"Vote for your least favourite". It's not that hard, peeps. Hello stranger. I hope you're staying safe and well out there. It is hard (peeps)! For me, it's not about the least favourite but the least appropriate, in the weird parallel universe that is "BB Survivor". Oh the things we do for the Boys.

Making your own rules, jk ! That's good to hear, pw. I'm fine too, thanks. Haha. Well, yes -- Survivor topics are so foreign to my way of thinking that I have to keep finding ways of justifying why I take part in them at all.

For the record, if this was a Smile Sessions Survivor, I would also vote out GV. The song survives on its own, but it’s not a good mate to its surrounding songs. Since these are not song survivors, but album survivors, I’m going by how the songs sound to me on their respective albums. If this was just a general catalog survivor, good vibrations would be very highly rated for me obviously.

Even if it was the anchor for Smiley - it does have a psychedelic vibe and perfectly appropriate. Smiley does have an oneiric (dreamlike quality) Wind Chimes or Whistle In, She's Goin' Bald or even Woody Woodpecker. It looks as though it was slapped on there, and maybe it was, but it does fit. It is a great sound effects LP.

Smiley is very important. 100%. It had been dismissed, underappreciated and marginalized but it is a great sound effects barrier-breaking LP. All that delicate sound experimentation. I do agree that it sounds more like a track that might have also been a good fit on 20/20 which made no bones about no theme but assortment of tracks - also magnificent. Could it have worked with other tracks on 20/20 like Time To Get Alone? Be With Me?

Aquarian SMiLE, my favourite SMiLE fan mix once to be found on Vimeo but no longer it seems (you can try here), doesn't include it for that reason. The track list is as follows (there's a description here, about halfway down, if you're interested): Side One: (You're Welcome) Heroes and Villains Cabin Essence Do You Like Worms Mrs O'Leary's Cow Vega-Tables Heroes and Villains Part 2 Side Two: (Prayer) Holidays Wind Chimes Child is Father of the Man Wonderful (Look) Second Day Surf's Up

Let's get serious this here round - You have to vote for your TWO least favourite tracks from Tribe A!
All BB songs are great songs, but there's only one seat available in the Survivor outrigger!!!
Play hard!!!

Play hard!!! Aaaagghhh!!!! The score already stands at thirteen votes by seven voters! Oh well... I'm voting off "H&V" for the reason I gave earlier. And it is with great regret that I consign "Vegetables" to the compost heap of "BB Survivor" rejects.
