My two to keep are "Wind Chimes" and "Wonderful". Bold move, John. But I have to say, with "Little Pad" gone -The song that has grown with me and on me more than any Smiley Smile track - I can honestly admit that "Good Vibrations" still gives me the same chills'n'thrills that it did in 1966. After I heard "Little Pad", tho, I spent the next three years trying to get to Hawaii. Which I did on 1 November 1970, not coming back home until mid-March 1971. A super super special time in my life that I still cherish. I never had another chance to go back. I spent over an hour trying to find the hidden idol yesterday. Gave up around 2am. Don't know if it is just a group of words or an actual symbol, but it is way hard to find.

GV and Heroes - despite its circularity and clumsiness, it somehow still feels like a breakthrough song whether it is the theme or its attempt to be lyrical and tell a story that is too big to fit in around 3 minutes. Is it rock or a trying to be a folk song? I don't know. The chorus sections are still magnificent. On some level it could have been made to be the overall thematic framework of Smile and this American Experience and voyage, as an overall overture with repeating sections throughout the work. Yes, theme/framework for SMiLE, but this record is Smiley Smile -The two are not the same to me.
Less a voyage, more a psych-cruise on a raft.

Bold move, Alan. I spent over an hour trying to find the hidden idol yesterday. Gave up around 2am. Don't know if it is just a group of words or an actual symbol, but it is way hard to find. Click on the link in the announcement about it’s discovery, so you can see how my petty mind works - I also dropped quite a big clue. I had the idea that you might hide it in one of your own posts. That is why I got hung up for a time listening to songs, and commenting, in the Brian's non-instrumentals thread. It's all good. We'll see how the power is used... Must say, Mr. Smith, you have brought excitements to this game never before accomplished.

You are too kind, Mr WF Flow - remember tho', for every action there is a counter action, which may soon be evidenced via the transition of excitement into despair.

OK, the poll has officially closed!
BUT!!!!
I'm just waiting for the holder of the immunity idol to finalise She or Him's intentions (and no, it's not Zoey Deschanel who holds the idol, although that would be fitting).
Feel free to go smoke a pack, bite down all of your nails or fold up a new tin-foil hat collection while we wait, but at the very least - STAY TUNED!!!

"Wind Chimes", as the first album cut I heard (at the time, on French radio) and one of the most extraordinary BB tracks (this version!) of any era.

"Close your eyes and lean back..." That song...I wonder how many people bought wind chimes after listening to that song. I always think of that song when I see them in a store.

"Close your eyes and lean back..." If I can dream to expect the unexpected... My vote goes to "Wind Chimes". Absolutely magical. Very much what Smiley Smile was meant to be.

Aren't you going to give us the details on if the idol changed things? "Good Vibrations" (the cake) really left out in the rain to melt in the park? Have there been enough secrets revealed today to call it a day? I want a bit more. "food, glorious, food..."

Here's Harry Enfield (Nicey) and Paul Whitehouse (Smashy) speaking Double Dutch on their radio show. And around the minute mark I'm fairly certain that Smashy says " windgongen", which is "Wind Chimes" in the Netherlands. Probably . Which is good enough for me:

Our lucky idolator requested Wind Chimes replace GV because they felt GV did not fit the vibe of Smiley. Well played that member, it’s certainly spun our magic roundabout in a different wise.

Wonderful (no pun intended) to see the magnificent "Wind Chimes" breathing hard down the necks of heroes and villains alike. A big thank you to the Sherlock Holmes of this forum!

Amazing how Brian could create and eerie, almost menacing atmosphere with an incredible vocal arrangement and some basic instrumentation. I’m glad he revisited and completed “Wind Chimes”.

Just like all of the outtakes/unreleased/alternate takes of Good Vibrations, same goes for Heroes and Villains. So much time and effort went into both of those songs. Somebody was smokin' some good sh*t!

I prefer this version of "Wind Chimes" but not over "Heroes and Villains".
