Allay your fears, voters! Click the box! As the tension mounts, I'm bowing out of this one. I've already seen three good ones fall by the wayside and refuse to vote off the best songs on the album. Al, are you gonna include 'Land Ahoy' and 'Cindy Oh Cindy'? See you on the Surfin' USA Survivor.

Time for Little Girl(You’re My Miss America) to shimmy into The Shift and do no wrong - somewhere else!
Okay, Top 4, it’s back to one at a time. With some level of sadness (2%), I’ll cast my vote for County Fair, a charming little slice of SoCal life ditty, the tale of spotty teen woe voiced by Mike is wonderfully and evocatively underscored by Andrea Carlo as the shallow object of desire and Nik Venet as the carny folk, gorgeously accompanied by the band including, notably, Brian on Organ.

Time for Little Girl(You’re My Miss America) to shimmy into The Shift and do no wrong - somewhere else! Aww -- I'm in mourning. As part of the mourning process, I've enshrined "The Shift" in my signature. Here it's between "County Fair" and "Surfin'". OK, I'll let go of "CF", the fairground component having been done better on "APUSA" and the music put to better use on "I Do". I understand Mikie 's decision but I'll go the whole hog, basically for Alan's sake. He shouldn't be putting in all this hard work for nothing.

Al, are you gonna include 'Land Ahoy' and 'Cindy Oh Cindy'? See you on the Surfin' USA Survivor. Would that makes sense? Surely this thread is about the original albums. If you want my two eurocents, I'd say stick to that format and omit bonus tracks and/or outtakes. They'd only cloud the issue, which is ticklish enough as it is! These are only eurocents, of course...

I hope we do the extra songs along with the albums. Keeps the songs in their time-line.
Non-Lp Singles are a must.
I'm voting for "Surfin'" to go, well, surfin' away.

Thanks for the great questions about upcoming potential Survivor content.
The easiest answer is I will post polls and if you like, you can vote and, in the spirit of Survivor (tm) see if you can influence the outcome in favour of your preferred track with logic, passion or lassic.

Well, the big strong guy, knocked the bell in the sky, took Mike’s girl and the doggie away and sent the carnies a-packin’. Perhaps Mike should stick with popping balls into laughing clowns mouths. See you this time next year County Fair.
Alright, the battle for third place - looks like Surfin’ is gonna get wiped-out, can anyone mount a late round broadside?
Results remain hidden until I lock the poll, moo-ha-ha!!!

Surfin' - despite being the first single - among the three - I think it is the weakest, least-developed track.

Surfin' - despite being the first single - among the three - I think it is the weakest, least-developed track. It’s a funny one isn’t it. It’s quite the unplugged hillbilly folk song, more akin to the British skiffle sound (with fewer cockneys) than US rock and roll. As a newb, I was fascinated and desperate to hear it, having read of the legendary debut. On hearing it for the first time, well I wonder if Al had hired electric guitars for the Morgan’s session or if they’d rerecorded it during SS it would have had a stronger sound. Please, no-one post the SIP version. Anyone know when they ditched it from live shows, eg, Post Surfin’ USA? My understanding is it got left behind pretty quickly.

Hey, given the lead break seems to start electric and finishes acoustic, are we talking a Carl/Dave co-lead, or was the electric dropped in later?

For Survivor we have to stick to just the album tracks, then do the extras and singles separately.

I remember Britney being flayed by the critics before Justin Bieber took over that unenviable position. Luckily both seem to have regained their status, musically and personally.
No idea who gets showered with the soft stuff these days...

Fair play, I suppose. I hear from my daughter that Justin is doing well these days (he looked well and together the last time I saw him on TV) but Britney still has big problems. Very sad.

Sorry Alan, way too late to this party to influence the result. Having entered this fun house world at Pet Sounds, then working backwards over the next few years and finally encountering Surfin' Safari it was always going to be underwhelming when I got there. Having said that I've always had a soft spot for Dennis's cherubic vocal on Little Girl and if it had been up to me I'd have liked to see a head-to-head between that and The Shift for the top placing. But as it isn't I'll go for "Surfin".

The same place in time for me. Working backwards was a great adventure as was trying to find all the LPs that had been released. Eventually, you find it all!
