BB Label Debut Survivor - Surfin' Safari - GRAND FINALE

Aww -- I'm in mourning. As part of the mourning process, I've enshrined "The Shift" in my signature.

Here it's between "County Fair" and "Surfin'". OK, I'll let go of "CF", the fairground component having been done better on "APUSA" and the music put to better use on "I Do".  

I understand Mikie 's decision but I'll go the whole hog, basically for Alan's sake. He shouldn't be putting in all this hard work for nothing.    

Would that makes sense? Surely this thread is about the original albums.

If you want my two eurocents, I'd say stick to that format and omit bonus tracks and/or outtakes. They'd only cloud the issue, which is ticklish enough as it is!

Well, the big strong guy, knocked the bell in the sky, took Mike’s girl and the doggie away and sent the carnies a-packin’.  Perhaps Mike should stick with popping balls into laughing clowns mouths.  See you this time next year County Fair.

Surfin' - despite being the first single - among the three - I think it is the weakest, least-developed track.  

It’s a funny one isn’t it.  It’s quite the unplugged hillbilly folk song, more akin to the British skiffle sound (with fewer cockneys) than US rock and roll.  

As a newb, I was fascinated and desperate to hear it, having read of the legendary debut.  On hearing it for the first time, well 

I wonder if Al had hired electric guitars for the Morgan’s session or if they’d rerecorded it during SS it would have had a stronger sound.

Please, no-one post the SIP version.

Anyone know when they ditched it from live shows, eg, Post Surfin’ USA? My understanding is it got left behind pretty quickly.

Of course you are right.  My mistake.  For Survivor we have to stick to just the album tracks,

then do the extras and singles separately.

I remember Britney being flayed by the critics before Justin Bieber took over that unenviable position. Luckily both seem to have regained their status, musically and personally.

No idea who gets showered with the soft stuff these days...

 

Fair play, I suppose. I hear from my daughter that Justin is doing well these days (he looked well and together the last time I saw him on TV) but Britney still has big problems. Very sad.
