It's always possible that one of the missing '81-'82 untitled Brian sessions was for a studio version of Oh Lord. Carolyn Williams once seemed to imply that it had been recorded, at least. As far as BB85 outtakes go, Brian's only other material was Water Builds Up, What's Wrong With Starting Out Now, and Oh Not This Again. I've always been interested in this period, and the Garby Leon tapes. I've read that supposedly a lot more exists than what we've heard.

I remembered this from many years ago but don’t actually remember if it’s been discussed since then or if things have changed since then.
The Monkey’s Uncle is a little blip in the groups extensive body of work from 1964, and I know all 5 members are definitely singing on it. However I couldn’t recall if the band played on it. The guitar definitely sounds like Carl and you can get instances of Dennis’ drum style in there, but this is only going off of what I hear rather than any other bits of evidence. There’s definitely wrecking crew members I can sense.
Ultimately, my question is if this is a wrecking crew track or if it’s a mix between the band and the crew with the latter augmenting the group.

The instruments on Monkey's Uncle outnumber the musicians listed on the AFM sheet, so it's possible that some of the Beach Boys played on it. It's also possible that there were some overdubs by the session musicians and bounces along the way. Not explicitly clear.

I love The Fendertones' version of Monkey's Uncle.
I also like pie.

I guess my question then would be if any of the musicians on the contract were paid doubles. That I believe at least solidifies involvement from the group.

Kind of a random question, but in the picture of Dennis giving Mike the finger behind his back, is the person in the hat Brian or Carl?

We're all probably familiar with that stray voice you can hear in the beginning of "With Me Tonight" saying "Good!" after a few iterations. Now...whose voice is that? All logic says that because the song was recorded at Brian's home studio, and because he's the credited engineer, it'd be Jim Lockert. BUT -- the voice sounds just like Chuck Britz. Is it possible that Brian borrowed Chuck from Western for this recording???

According to Brian, it's someone called Arnie Geller, whoever that is and however his name is actually spelled.

According to Brian, it's someone called Arnie Geller, whoever that is and however his name is actually spelled. Arny Geller was Brian's "gofer" at the time. He was later a co-owner of the Radiant Radish. Interviewed in ESQ #138 [summer 2022]. BTW, that "good!" was edited in later.

You sure about that? If you listen to the session as it appears on Unsurpassed Masters Vol. 18, it's there at the end of a take during the session.

Carl.
Do any other pictures exist from that photo session?

Aye, but it’s spoken at the wrong moment – must have been spliced into place.

It does explain Arny's initial hesitation when asked about it on Matt and Greg's show ( here just after 53:00)...

My first guess is that it's the sax player featured in the video, but that guy didn't have nearly the hair that the mullet-haired guy in the picture has.

Why were The Beach Boys still on Capitol -- well, Stateside -- in the UK until 1972? Did they have a separate contract for UK?

Why did were The Beach Boys still on Capitol -- well, Stateside -- in the UK until 1972? Did they have a separate contract for UK? Stateside was an EMI subsiduary in the UK, and, for reasons I don't understand, the UK deal with EMI ran for two years after the US deal with Capitol ended.
