This has probably been posted-but this is one of the best-if not the best-Dennis interviews-he is very lucid and thoughtful and seems to be so together...unfortunately things started to go south only months later....so it is a sort of bittersweet listen

Where are these clips taken from? Is there a full show 'floating' around the net? Anybody wanna hazard a guess on the date? 1993/1994? Would be great to have some more audio/video multimedia from the Iconic group of The Beach Boys. More DVD's or Concert films please!

No later than 1993.

It looks like Tom has uploaded a couple more videos from this show
Gerry Beckley of America can be seen during Funx3 as they were the opening act.
Bellagio shows America touring with the band in 1992, and 1993.

I never saw this before. The musicianship is pretty bad, but Brian’s vocals alternate between very good to very interesting, and only occasionally alarming. “Surfer Girl” is pretty good. There is still a lot of power in his falsetto. The little bit of “Rhapsody In Blue” is done nicely.

Thanks for that, chief. I'll check it out later today.

This must have been very close to the end of Landy's second tenure.

Well, it's a far cry from the original Beach Boys and an equally far cry from his work with The Brian Wilson Band. In "SUSA", at least one person (Don Was on bass?) is playing a semitone higher -- from start to finish! And poor Brian had to handle all the vocals himself. Such a shame he didn't have the splendid backing vocalists he had in the IJWMFTT documentary. (Agreed about "Surfer Girl", chief. This version reminds me of Ritchie Valens' "Donna", which was itself a doo wop song sung solo.) I'd say that snippet of Rhapsody in Blue -- just Brian at his piano, kind of a premonition of what is arguably his last album -- is the highlight of the performance, rather than what was expected of him by Landy or anyone else. That's the heart-warming moment that will stay with me from this session...

Brian’s competency on “Rhapsody In Blue” is evidence that was wasn’t just the guy with bear paws pounding out “Shortenin’ Bread”. It makes At My Piano seem so much more plausible than many people probably thought.

Also-one more Dennis interview from 77-not sure if this has been posted (I am too lazy to go through every page of this long thread). Good interview-again it is so strange-Dennis seemed in such a good head space in 77 and then he really crashed and burned by around April 78 and just never ever really totally got it together again......it really is sad...though it happened to many of the greats....I mean look at Elvis around 1970-on top of the world and if you watch That's the Way It Is-his 1970 concert doc-he seems real together too but.........

Those were great. I stumbled on them yesterday. And Dennis sounded great and kind of scholarly.

This was the era in which he dated Christine, the seemingly “sane” member of Fleetwood Mac. She seemed to really love Dennis. I never read anything about how he really felt about her. It didn’t seem that he loved her like he loved Karen. However, I would have expected someone like Christine to have had a balancing effect on Dennis. But he continued to spiral downward even with Christine. I suspect she was more of an enabler, and had she not been so, their relationship would have been far shorter-lived. They don’t really seem like a great match. Also, I don’t know much about Christine, so maybe this kind of relationship fit into her own patterns.

At least she was still in the picture when the group imploded in front of a Rolling Stone reporter in September of that year. Christine I think showed up in 1978 and by that time Dennis was on his irreversible downward spiral. Fleetwood Mac's enormous success which fueled the excesses of the time did not help either

Oh yeah…I just was surprised how strong he seemed mentally in late 1977, considering how out of control he started to get in the following year. But it can happen to anyone…..like a person who is an alcoholic could seem to be in great shape but all it takes is one drink and everything unravels very quickly. Obviously with talented people like Dennis you are just left to wonder about what might have been if they made different choices.

This popped up yesterday on YouTube. A rare performance of "Heroes & Villains" by the band from the 1990s. I'm guessing this was during the band's promotion of their 30th anniversary box set. Pretty nice performance.

That Good Vibrations clip is from the BBs appearance on the Something Else tv show that aired in early 1970 but was taped in late 1969. The clip in Endless Harmony of them singing Cotton Fields outdoors at night is from the same show.

A couple minutes with Brian Wilson in 2002 before touring Australia, good to see him having a laugh and enjoying the moment.
