Have you considered approaching Rhino/the Grateful Dead organization to obtain soundboard recordings from ‘71 where The Beach Boys sat in with the Dead for a few songs? Could be a fun treat for the next box. Non-Feel Flows era question: Mark mentioned removing layers of production when working on the new box set. Do you suspect that Mike’s primitive Knebworth auto-tune could be wiped? Or is that in his signal chain on the tape? Thanks! the autotune was added in post-production in the 00s - so it should be removable. also, a lot of the smile box and made in california have problems with excess pitch correction

Mark and Alan: How much interaction did you have with Brian, Mike, Al and Bruce in putting this set together?

Is it possible we could ever see a future release of the track Silly Walls? I really love this track, so I hope there’s a chance of it being released in the future as well

I don’t recall that I’VE GOT A FRIEND was over four minutes, but in some cases where we had very bare bones backing tracks with repeating sections, we did make the choice to shorten some repetitive sections so that we could fit more songs onto the discs.

Mark and Alan: What surprised you the most about the material had written and recorded with Daryl Dragon?

I don't recall single instance on the FF box

Hi Alan! Thanks for being here. Any chance of The music Fred Vail recorded in 1970 seeing the light of day?

Alan, a hundred years ago, when you and I tipped a few, could you have imagined all that unfolded? And are you as amazed as I am that something so magnificent could have happened?

Hi Alan! Thanks for being here. Any chance of The music Fred Vail recorded in 1970 seeing the light of day? Fred owns those recordings and I know he has been working on them as they were largely unfinished

Silly Walls, along with some other unreleased tracks from that era which primarily feature David Sandler and/or Marilyn & Diane on vocals probably belong on a Spring collection.

Hi Alan and Mark and welcome to the EH board!
Alan, I met you at a fan gathering at Les Chan's house in Oakland way back in the 80's. You've come a long way, baby!
First off, when you had the final Feel Flows project completed and you 'submitted' it to the Beach Boys, did they have any further comments or suggestions for you? I would especially liked to have seen Brian's face when he first listened to these "new" unreleased tracks from the FF Box Set.
Second, what was your biggest surprise/new discovery/find when listening to the tapes in the vault? Was it included on The Box?

Hey Mark and Alan, so glad to get another opportunity to talk to you guys! This set seems to have gone through quite a lot of changes from the first time Al mentioned it in late 2019. I understand that at one point, there were intentions to include a sampling of Fred Vail's country album (specifically "All for the Love of a Girl") on the set. Was there any other material that was originally intended for the Feel Flows set, but cut later on during its lengthy production? Thank you!

Hi Mark!
Is there anymore early to mid 60's live material still unreleased?? Also, any particular reason why anything from Fred Vail's country album with Brian wasn't put on this era release? Thank you so much! YOU ROCK!

Thanks for all you guys do, Mark and Alan! Not Feel Flows box related, but what are each of your favorite eras of the band's music?

I was wondering if there are any plans to release/ reissue any Spring recordings?

I'd heard it all when I made the transfers some years ago, but to mix the songs brought out an entirely new dimension to them

I would imagine remastering with analog and mono tapes- in hopes of sometimes making them stereo, can be time consuming. Is there a different process needed to produce the same results for the new Vinyl record releases? When mastering how does one keep the analog feel in a digital world?

It hasn't changed as much as the amount of time would suggest. The running order changed , and a few additional tracks got added over the past year, but mostly the pandemic has just slowed everything down...
