Latest catches: Long Promised Road (Track & Background Vocal Mix) Slip On Through (Alternate 1969 Mix With Session Intro) Discussion about the implications of an original mix outtake inclusion, etc, etc Maybe the algorithm's just being strangely selective with material that'd usually be considered secondary to the main thrust of a boxset... Or, is this looking to anyone else like a Sunshine-Tomorrow-2-in-reverse equivalent prelude to some kind of bigger release? The simplest explanation that I can think of is that it's not being "strangely selective" as much as only catching stuff that's been uploaded, and thus only catching stuff that already circulates or resembles material that already circulates. If there's some revelatory track or tracks on the box set that's not even been rumoured to exist, then nobody will be uploading anything like it to YouTube and so it won't get caught. But also, all these lists sound to me like exactly the kind of thing I would expect from the box. Remember, the closest thing we've had to this so far is Sunshine Tomorrow -- and if we were looking at just the titles from that, what would we see? "Country Air (2017 Mix)" "A Thing or Two (Track and Backing Vocals)" "Little Pad (backing track)" Just the same kind of things we're seeing here. This.

The latest word from Howie on the other board:

It’s great news!
Also, if I’m reading the facts correctly, three months of continuously insulting and attacking the band member who allegedly withheld the release, paid off.😂

The whole exercise, from beginning to end was a travesty. Imagine the traffic… if it comes in a gold box, signed by all surviving band members, includes a free car plus hotdogs for life, and puts the Beach Boys in their rightful place, it’ll still be Mike’s fault! Good that there’s movement though. Fingers still crossed.

In all modesty, I like to think it was me finally signing that change.org petition that pushed it to the finish line. After all, to paraphrase past promotional wisdom, "1,683...1,685...1,687...no 1,683 Beach Boys fans can't be wrong".

here's hoping the cover won't use the typewriter font from ST/ST2/WTW/ICHM! Maybe something a little more risky like Brush Script

Looking forward to that eventual period where we find out it wasn't what we presumed it was or who we presumed it was and then all the Gordian Knot justifications for why the presumptions were acceptable.
Or maybe not. Probably.

Just a quick update to tell you all that three new titles have been detected!
Okie From Muskogee Riot In Cell Block #9 (Live/1970)
And most interestingly....
Surf's Up (Brother Records Version)
The last one looks promising.

Some clarification for those who don't understand the process, i'll explain with the best of my knowledge
Youtube's copyright detection system has 4 paths when a song is uploaded. The first one (and the one that is getting all these tracks confirmed) is detection of important copyrighted material. When this happens, the video becomes BLOCKED worldwide. Once it gets blocked, a company involved is listed for the copyright credits, and a pulldown menu is available if any lowly user wants to fight back against the video blockage. The second path taken is detection of regular copyrighted material. Videos with these only get monetized (ads are played before the video plays) and this path suffers from abuse taken from the users, since it's much easier to upload something and target random people claiming stolen content manually. HOWEVER, I and my fellow friends who have been working on this have been uploading privated videos. This means that nobody can see it except for the uploader, even a direct link will not work.
[P.S. The third path is detection of music that doesn't get monetized, and the 4th is not getting detected; these aren't important]

So YouTube’s software is recognising the actual audio/visual content rather than just the info text with which the upload has been tagged/described?

What I'm anticipating is a comparison of what's released with what was originally proposed, and a list of what - if anything - is "missing". I can think of at least four, maybe five, people who could do this. Doubtless there are more, of course.

Mmm - that might suggest that what we (ie. us, the public, the target market for this release) are going to eventually get is now going to be different to what was originally proposed? As a completely uninformed bystander with access to no inside info whatsoever, I think I'm right in saying that even that has been shrouded in uncertainty up until now (and actually, still is, as Andrew's post is not, in and of itself, any kind of confirmation of anything either!). Of course, I've read what probably everyone on this thread has: that there was speculation that there was an original completed project ready to roll, with a final track list, finished, mixed, mastered etc. And that that release got put on hold... and then there was speculation that it might be released after all with changes and deletions from the original line up. And now there is news of some kind from people who would know that the project is moving again. But I think I'm right in saying that it's not currently clear to us, the uninformed general public, whether what's moving again is the speculated original project or some kind of cutdown (or otherwise altered) version of it. So we're once again speculating about exactly how unknown some unknown unknowns are. Or might be. Mais plus ça change...!
So... exactly *how* many heavenly host do we reckon fit on top of that sewing accessory, again...??

So YouTube’s software is recognising the actual audio/visual content rather than just the info text with which the upload has been tagged/described? Yep! But one problem (or rather, blessing if you're a content creator) with the software is it only makes vague guesses. For example, if you upload the album mix of Student Demonstration Time right now, it will very likely detect it as the track & backing vocal mix. I had used a very poor, wobbly concert performance of Surf's Up and it somehow managed to get detected as the remake!
