Yes and that looks really good but somebody give me a breakdown of what that actually means in terms of popularity and whether it's extraordinary or just normal or evidence of the eternal power of the Beach Boys or just their appearance on Christmas playlist or what.... And thank all you Scholars for monitoring this important information quote author=" AGD" source="/post/48421/thread" timestamp="1640798158"] W/e January 1st:

Check the year end charts on billboard.
Incredibly, SOS was the 138th biggest selling album of the year in America

[/quote] It's a sign of incredible staying power. Essentially thousands of new people a week buying Beach Boys music for the first time. There are a select few bands from the 50, 60s and 70s with that relevance these days

If Sounds of Summer manages to stay on the chart for next week, that will give The Beach Boys a chart history of over 60 years (just, by two days), since "Surfin'" debuted at #93 on the Billboard Hot 100 on February 17th 1962.

Two things: one, Sounds Of Summer is up ten places to #163... and two, I've modified the US chart listing so that part four is no longer about half a mile long. There's now a part five, and the country chart listings have been tacked onto the AC figures. Took forever, but was quite theraputic.

Will the upcoming expanded release be counted as part of the original SOS, or would have a separate placing?

That's why the first disc is the same tracklisting. The expanded version counts towards the sales since 2003.

And of course they did - up to #105 in their 300th week on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. Next milestone ? 312 weeks, or six years. For them as worries about these things, the top ten charting albums by total weeks are as follows: 1 Sounds of Summer 300 2 Endless Summer 155 3 Best Of The Beach Boys 78
4 Surfin USA 74 5 Beach Boys Concert 65
6 Surfer Girl 57 7 Beach Boys Today ! 50 8 All Summer Long 49 9 Pet Sounds 47 10 Little Deuce Coupe 46

One observation I just had is that The Beach Boys had two top ten LPs in 1966, and one top 30 LP in 1967 “Wild Honey.” Their fortunes were not so good until 1971’s top 30 LP “Surf’s Up,” but in 1974 the “Endless Summer” compilation hit number one.
What would you call a band today that had two top ten albums in one year, a top 30 album the next year, a top 30 album 4 years later, and a mega selling number one compilation album 3 years after that?
In this day and age of producing one album every five years, and milking it for tours and singles, probably extremely prolific.

Their highest charting album in 1967 was Best Of The Beach Boys at #33 on January 7th. In fact they had three Top 10 albums in 1966 - just: Beach Boys Party ! peaked at #6 on New Year's Day.

Those few years changed everything. Endless Summer is a different dynamic, post-war. The pleasant-est surprise for everyone.

Show me exactly where any BB album charted in the top 30 in the calendar year of 1967.
