Currently, Sounds Of Summer is sitting at #113 on the Billboard Top 200 albums, having (re)entered said chart for the eleventh time on 16th March. It's also at #20 in the Catalog Chart too !
For those who are counting, that's a chart history of over 57 years - February 17th 1962-June 8th 2019... and counting.

I thought cheerleaders and "oldies" ruined their careers and legacy decades ago? It's gettin' so you can't believe in nuthin' no more. What next, Mike DIDN'T end C50 and Shirtgate WASN'T a baseless conspiracy theory?

Sounds Of Summer currently sitting at #85 on the Billboard 200 - highest charting BB album for almost seven years. For good measure it's also #13 in the catalog chart.

The continuing saga of Sounds of Summer...
Having had a 32 week chart run commencing March 16th this year (peaking at #85), on November 16th it re-entered the 200 for the 12th time and currently sits at #196. This gives The Beach Boys a national chart career spanning February 17th 1962 ("Surfin'") to November 23rd 2019, or 57 years 278 days.

And sounds of summer was 131 last week and is 132 this week. Plus this week the beach boys Christmas album came in at 185, which I believe is it's first time listed in the top 200 lp chart. Thanks for that... however, the Xmas album is listed as Merry Christmas From The Beach Boys, which isn't the 1964 Christmas Album (which did chart for a week at #107 back on January 5th this year !). At a guess I'd say it's a 1997 Capitol CEMA reissue with just 9 tracks.. Any further info appreciated. And great to see you here Steve !

it was nice, for me anyway, to see the first issue of billboard for the new decade, and see merry christmas listed at 88 and sos at 139. always nice to see the group chart into another decade.

Well, dunno what this proves, other than it's spring, but Sounds Of Summer just jumped 32 places in the album chart to #118, in its 18th straight week on the charts this time around (the 13th re-entry overall). That's the highest it's been since August 31st last year (#106). Yup, that legacy's sure taking one helluva kicking, huh ? More trivia: since March 16th last year, the album's been out of the Top 200 for just four weeks.

Too bad that most recent controversial concert (still not a fan) destroyed the legacy.
Still waiting for usual where we learn someone's responsibilty was exaggerated while other's was concealed (not the right word maybe) in that incident.

Anyone know what those postions equate to in sales? Does it include streaming too?

Sales - physical and digital - and streaming. Ten digital track sales or 1,500 song streams from an album are treated as equivalent to one purchase of the album. My guess is that the vast majority of the "sales" is down to streaming.

Come on people, didn't you hear Mike shot the legacy in the head with an elephant gun. (Not defending or excusing the club or Mike)

Up until 5-6 years ago best of the beach boys vol 1 was their best selling lp. Guessing in the following years sounds of summer has become their best selling lp

Up to July 2013, the sales were:
Best Of... 3,500,000 Endless Summer 3,225,000 SOS 3,150,000
Would SOS have sold another 350,000 copies (or the equivalent) in seven years ? Well, it's had five chart runs totalling another 89 weeks (and counting) since then. Possible.
