Just for context, that's the album sales chart, which counts only physical sales, not downloads & streaming as well as per the Top 200. That said, 10,000 units sold is deeply impressive.

So 10,000 box sets were sold, or 2,000 X 5CDs? If I remember correctly a 5 disc box set needs to sell 100,000 copies to go gold in the US.

Just to clarify, in addition to physical sales, Billboard's Top Album Sales chart does include digital downloads (officially "digital track sales" where 10 tracks = 1 album). (The Billboard 200 includes streams in the US from Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, YouTube, etc, at 1,500 streams = 1 album.) And yes, #9 in Top Album Sales with the equivalent of 10K units sold is very impressive.

Thanks for the clarification: I should have said "pure sales" as opposed to any form of streaming.

What’s more amazing is the utter crap that makes up the top twenty but maybe I am just becoming an old grumpy guy

... and then drops 28 places to #160. Hm. That said, the album just racked up nine straight months on the Billboard 200 chart on its 15th re-entry since 2003. 270 weeks (just over five years) in total. Not too shabby. OK, since you asked, the 10 BB albums with the longest chart life: Sounds of Summer - 270 weeks (and counting) Endless Summer - 155 weeks Best of the Beach Boys - 78 weeks Surfin' USA - 74 weeks Concert ! - 65 weeks Surfer Girl - 57 weeks Today ! - 50 weeks All Summer Long - 49 weeks Pet Sounds - 47 weeks Little Duece Coupe - 46 weeks

Excellent news for a chartfax freak like me - the Billboard Catalog chart is no longer premium !! I feel an update coming on...
Uh... something screwy here - not only do the positions not agree with what's on 10452, the chart goes back waaaaayyyy past its introduction in 1991. Hm. Hmmm.
In other news, Sounds of Summer drops a further nineteen places to #179.

It gets more bizarre (please, indulge me here): up to a point (apparently 2012-ish) the chart positions are indeed in agreement with 10452 (as they should be, because that's where I got them from) but thereafter there's something of a divergence. So, either... 1 - I cocked it up royally when transcribing the numbers or... 2 - there's been some retroactive checking of the sales figures. Oh well, I've got a week off work, didn't have anything else planned.

It's been in the chart every week of 2021: not bad for an eighteen year old compilation.

Would love to see Little Saint Nick chart on the Hot 100 again like it did last holiday season. It'd be on the week ending Jan. 1st if it follows last year's trend.
