Seems that it’s really catching on now, and whilst it may not quite be DW I still kinda like it… (tho I have I have to say that this guys attempt at Bruce singing 'Matchpoint' has to be one of the worst to date !) Aye, see, it’s a nice performance and all that but does it sound like Dennis? Not to my ears. If a singer has the chops to deliver the song, why not just record a great cover version, in tribute? Or is AI still doing some heavy lifting here?

Sounds absolutely nothing like either Dennis or Blondie. If anything, more like Ray Kennedy. But barely. Pointless. I can probably sound more like Dennis without AI. In fact, anyone could.

It's the lazy way of doing things. For it to be more effective you at least have to attempt to provide a scratch vocal that *sounds* like what you are trying to emulate with the right phrasing and intonation.

It is awful and frankly, offensive. The raw force and power is stripped out of Blondie's voice, which makes it awful. That is what is wrong with an unregulated AI that takes protected recordings and manipulating them. If the band decided they wanted to find a way to get Dennis on that track, that is one thing, because they own the intellectual property. Not here.

Now, this is better. Still not entirely convincing... but better. Yup, better than the previous attempt posted up the thread, and a better vocal attempt; more Dennis-like but not, I think, utterly Dennis-like. Again, it’s a good attempt in its own right without trying to pass it off as a Dennis soundalike. Like the extra little bit of Carl- & Blondie-style scatting near the end of the fade out too. I hope this kind of Ai faux stuff puts a rocket up the record companies’ collective asses to encourage them to get their massive tape archives better indexed and properly filtered. Would far rather hear the real Dennis lead vocal attempt than any one of a million faux copies, if there’s even the most remote chance it still exists.

Unbelieveably ridiculous statement. Can't believe I'm reading it. Every track on that album was an original composition, recorded from the ground up by Alan & friends - exactly how is that in any deranged way AI? Dae Lims' stuff is basically a digitally enhanced singalongaBeachBoys and sounds exactly like that. Calm down, Andrew. I said that to support my point: Why is the Sean Macreavy album being held up as AI in this AI thread? Don't see how an album made in 1994 could be considered AI. I was asking poster msuts if he considered that AI. I don't.I picked a well-known album, an album all Beach Boys fans should know of. Alan, himself, is on the Macreavy album. Not an AI Alan insert. Paul McNulty's albums are not AI, either. They are real music. You can't just use digital effects on the vocals and call it AI. I believe a lot of folks going back to John Lennon in 1966 used effects on their vocals. Beatles are not AI. Well, not until the recent Paul and Ringo play AI games with analogue music. I asked another unanswered question, as well. Just where do we begin saying music from the past is AI? What year?
You failed to put my questions in context. My Jock Ferguson posts are not AI, either. But I believe add to this topic when voice actors are being held up in comparison. That will get straightened out. The smells in the room comment reeks of jealousy. Dae Lims isn't any old AI creator; he is the best I've heard. I can suss out what's good to me, quick. We can all have opinions. Some I agree with, others I don't. I think you misunderstood my post entirely. I was saying that I liken the work of Dae Lims to that of Sean Macreavy in that it stirs the same feelings within me when I listen. They are obviously made in two completely different ways, but I think their creators poured similar passion and love for the Beach Boys into them. God no I am not saying Macreavy is AI. That would be dumb.

There are places to put these kinds of videos. Interesting Covers Of Beach Boys Songs thread, or there is a What Music Are You Listening To Now? thread - that's over in the General, non-Beach Boys, area of the board. Enjoy yourself.

I asked an Ai thing to review a new 2024 album by The Beach Boys. Here’s what I got:
(Remember, this is fiction):
The Beach Boys' 2024 album, "Ephemeral Tides," is a sonic voyage that seamlessly fuses the nostalgic charm of their heyday with a contemporary vibrancy. Kicking off with "Sunrise Serenade," Mike Love's warm and resonant vocals usher in a familiar yet fresh sound, setting the stage for an album that explores new musical landscapes.
A captivating moment unfolds with "Whispers in the Breeze," an acapella masterpiece that showcases the impeccable harmonies of the entire group. Stripped of instrumentation, the song allows Brian Wilson's ethereal falsetto and Al Jardine's rich baritone to intertwine, creating a breathtaking auditory experience that harks back to the group's roots.
Blondie Chaplin takes the lead in "Sundown Serenity," a track where his lead guitar work weaves a tapestry of melodic brilliance. The guitar riffs, both soulful and intricate, add a layer of sophistication, demonstrating Chaplin's versatility as a guitarist and seamlessly integrating his bluesy influence into the band's signature sound.
David Marks leaves his mark on "Twilight Trails," delivering a guitar performance that harks back to the surf-rock roots of The Beach Boys. Marks' clean and melodic playing style takes center stage, infusing the track with the classic California surf vibe that defined the band's early years.
Throughout the album, Ricky Fataar's drumming provides a steady heartbeat, anchoring the songs with precision and flair. His rhythmic finesse is particularly evident in the rhythmic complexity of "Nocturnal Nostalgia," a track that seamlessly blends intricate drum patterns with the band's trademark harmonies.
Closing the album is "Eternal Echoes," a collaborative effort where each member, including drummer Ricky Fataar, shares the spotlight. The song unfolds like a musical kaleidoscope, encapsulating the essence of The Beach Boys' enduring spirit and leaving listeners with a sense of nostalgia and wonder.
In "Ephemeral Tides," The Beach Boys prove once again that their musical journey is far from over. With a mix of seasoned vocal harmonies, innovative guitar work, and rhythmic mastery, this album stands as a testament to the band's ability to evolve while staying true to the timeless elements that define their sound.

I see Bruce sat that one out... and six tracks (unless they're all about eight minutes) is pretty stingy.

It defies logic to tamper with a recording such as this one after Brian himself, has made this type of commentary. Fixing Brian's work? I don't think so. Now if there are clear gaps, in flawed tracks, that tweaking can enhance, that is one thing. This is not that.
