A lot of these performances are jumping up on YouTube now, and spite my hesitation about the whole event, I'm quite enjoying most of these interpretations more than what I expected. I'm glad they have not strayed from the magic of Brian's arrangements too much and totally 'reinvent the wheel' to just be different. Very cool to see the guys in the room, that's probably the big payoff right there, seeing them together one more time. Hoping we get some nice pics from the night show up if nothing else, I'd love one blown up for the wall that's for sure. In terms of the celebration, hopefully they can package it up in some form for us all to see at some stage. It may not have been the big event we were expected from The Beach Boys, but it sure makes a fine feather to stick in the cap, and a nice 'Thankyou' to guys that made it all happen.

There was a time back in the 90's where the thought of a high profile tribute concert of the band featuring a high profile artist performing what is ultimately a lesser-known song by the band would be utterly mind-blowing to me. Back then half of the band's catalog was out of print and was almost completely ignored by everyone including the band themselves to the point of frustration. Radio stations wouldn't touch their later input and that era felt completely and unfairly unappreciated. Especially because a lot of their 70's music deserved so much more attention. So although I'm well aware this isn't the first time a high profile artist covered "Sail On, Sailor" (*ahem* Ray Charles), it's still cool to see a currently popular artist such as John Legend performing it. Any exposure of the band's music in this kind of presentation is good exposure.

That rendition of Caroline No by LeAnn Rimes was worth the price of several admissions

Not a huge Legend fan but damn, he nailed "Sailor".
I see elsewhere there's comment on the alleged "significance" of the seating arrangements. Seriously, some "fans" need to get a life.

Does anyone know who were involved with the house band? Obviously drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. was there but were any of the musicians from either Brian's or Mike's group performing onstage?

The selection of songs for their artistic range and the appropriateness to the particular performers was extraordinary and rich. Not to harsh anyone's mellow as we say here in California but I must say that the weakest ones were The Hansons who didn't really seem to get Barbara Ann going with any great energy. Maybe I'd feel differently if I saw the performance again but something just didn't pop there. And Lady a which I may have mentioned above just didn't seem to get the right balance or the precise Melody of surfer girl and the performance never really gelled or found its way. Again willing to listen again but I remember thinking they should have just stopped and restarted.
It was fun to see performances in the taping where beck for example said oh you're applauding so loud and I love your enthusiasm but I couldn't hear the music at the start of the song. And that gave a real feeling of just being part of a event with take two sort of thing. Real hardcore Hollywood fun experience.
I was the last one out of the balcony because I kept my binoculars on the Beach Boys until each had left and disappeared behind the curtain. So there's no way to assess precisely what went on between them behind closed doors or before the event or after. But I did get to see Dave go over to Brian and bend over or kneel down in front of him and shake his hand and talk to him. And you just wonder what those two old friends said to each other at that moment and with all the old friends said to each other throughout the night and before and after.
And hope the Beach Boys themselves will talk more about this. I'm hoping that the show itself will have some interviews with them that may have been done earlier in the evening or might still be done subsequent to the show. So much more information and so much more to learn about what went on and how they reacted and with the world will think of this special night.
The hosts who did a very nice job of informing the audience and cheering us on and thanking us for our participation etc said this program will be on CBS this spring so we wait for that and certainly a video I would like to be able to own and see and watch and if they do an album certainly something to own and cherish . the sound in the hall was fantastic and Leon rhymes in particular and brandi Carlisle hit some beautiful sometimes slightly wonderfully hillbilly notes that made the audience gasp with all and admiration.

Hi, longtime lurker, first time poster. Just wanted to post the full setlist - I too was in the balcony and damn what a show. Was hoping for some recognition of the other BBs and we got it with some nice clips and some of the intros acknowledging the others in the box and Dennis/Carl. Would advise watching the full show - as good as these Youtube clips, they will never compete with a slick production. I'd say like 4-5 of these were performed twice.
1. Help Me Rhonda - Little Big Town 2. California Girls - Weezer 3. Sail on Sailor - John Legend 4. Barbara Ann - Hanson 5. In My Room - Brandi Carlile 6. Wouldn’t It Be Nice - Charlie Puth 7. Don’t Worry Baby - Michael McDonald & Take 6 8. Warmth of the Sun - Norah Jones 9. Do It Again - Foster the People 10. Surfer Girl - Lady A 11. Do You Wanna Dance - Fall Out Boy 12. Sloop John B - Beck 13. Caroline No - Leann Rimes 14. I Know There’s an Answer - Mumford & Sons 15. Darlin - Andy Grammar 16. You Still Believe in Me - St Vincent 17. I Get Around - My Morning Jacket 18. Heroes & Villains - Pentatonix 19. Surfin USA/Fun Fun Fun - Luke Spiller/Taylor Momsen 20. Good Vibrations - Beck/Jim James 21. God Only Knows - John Legend & Brandi Carlile

I'm glad to hear Mike and Brian chatted. Judging by the pictures they are not only sitting at opposite sides of the balcony, but appear to be leaning away from each other. I'm no body language expert, but.....
Who knows what happens behind closed doors, but if there is still bad feeling between them, I hope they get it sorted out. They're not getting any younger

How long do you think before "somewhere" "someone" conspiracy theorizes that first blurry photo "proves" Mike is bullying Brian?

How long do you think before "somewhere" "someone" conspiracy theorizes that first blurry photo "proves" Mike is bullying Brian? It was already happening in some of the comments I read on YouTube. By "somewhere" and "someone" though I take it you mean a specific site. Let's give folk the benefit of the doubt though.

Fall Out Boy did a nice job with that song for sure in honor of Dennis.
As for the issue of Mike and brian, we don't know what they were doing in the green room or beforehand or how much interaction they had. Friday Night Football and singing Danny Boy on Grandma's knee? but I did not witness that and we will have to wait to see what the individual boys say about their experience and what interviews may have been conducted and when the official photos are published because they were gathered for a photo right there in the balcony capacity.
And there's a lot that's going to ensue after this as the post-production and the announcement of this show and whatever albums or videos come out of it. This was really something major and how it's going to resonate commercially and critically will certainly be something to monitor.
I'm most of all concerned with how the Beach Boys felt about it and what actions they will take in response. Will Brian want to get out there every now and then and is Mike going to tell Al and Dave to show up on stage sometime. This is the beginning of something different or just a one-off. We could speculate but we don't know. I was so sad when Dave was interviewed here by some of our members and he said he probably won't play with Mike again but there was Dave and Mike and Bruce having long extended conversations about this and that. They could have been talking about crazy stuff on the road from a thousand years ago and who knows. But the Beach Boys exchanged thousands of words with each other last night and I would be very interested to know what they said and what it meant in their heads and hearts to be together.

They had a great view from that private loge. No doubt they had a social opportunity and/or press opportunity before/after the show. After 60 years on and off the road there has been plenty of time to hone small-talk. Conditions change with people, and you can’t look in a crystal ball to know what their future holds. They appeared pleased. The performance went well. A win-win. When they get off-stage, they go back to their non-BB world. But, on some levels it was a professional business appearance, so maybe we need to leave it at that. And let them figure it out. They are big boys. Thanks for your relaying reflections from the night. 👍

Couple of other thoughts before I go back to work so I can pay the rent. I feel personally overwhelmed by the intensity of the experience and from some people who are placed YouTube videos who were there they're feeling the same thing. This is really a lot for the fan to process on the level of the heart as John Stamos would say. The remarkable event of seeing the five Beach Boys together is one thing and then hearing these great artists in their brilliant interpretations Breathe new and creative life into some old songs is itself something very difficult to confront on the aesthetic and emotional level. I'm in a daze and wish I had a complete album of all those tracks just to play over and over again with a couple of exceptions. In any case it meant a great deal to me to be able to share these reminiscences here with all you fans and Scholars and historians who cherish and value this experience and know how to understand and process it and assimilate it into our understanding of Beach Boy history and the history of American Musical culture.

Yeah I loved the love for Dennis & Carl. They showed a bunch of classic clips from the 50s/60s between the set changes and I hope they make their way into the broadcast. Wish the performers got a better chance to talk abt their love for the band but maybe difficult for the broadcast to include everything. I hope it’s two hours and not just cut down to one.
Highlights for me were Legend’s Sail on Sailor, both Brandi Carlile performances, Foster the People’s Do It Again, Norah Jones’ Warmth of the Sun, Andy Grammar doing Darlin’, the acappella version of Heroes and Villains which got all the psychedelic weirdness across, & My Morning Jacket’s very fun I Get Around.
Such a fun show. Can’t wait for y’all to see it.

And the guitarist seemed more concerned with his fx board than actually playing the damn song.

Just watched the God only knows with Brandi Carlile and John Legend and it is spectacular
and I remember now that the very final moment: the song is over and everyone is cheering and they introduce each other and take an old school bow, and beach boys are there enjoying; and Brandi carlile, and a moment of great excitement and joy and ceremony, simply shouts out for all the house to hear, the Beach Boys!
She said, The Beach Boys and the house went mad with cheers and joy including this reviewer. She said the Beach Boys, and maybe with five Beach Boys as a direct referent, it's the last time we're going to hear that old school joyous Show Business cry Ed sullivan style, The Beach Boys!
