The date of the tribute show for the BBs has finally been announced (see below).
"A Grammy Salute to The Beach Boys, the latest in a series of "Grammy Salute" specials, will tape Wednesday, Feb. 8, three days after the 65th annual Grammy Awards are held in Los Angeles. The live concert special will feature a star-studded lineup paying tribute to the classic pop/rock group. It will tape at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and will air on CBS later this year."

And when do we find out which if any of the Beach Boys will be in attendance which I assume all of them I hope. Is Dave going to be invited I don't see him mentioned in the article.
And no reference to whether the Beach Boys will take the stage or any details at all

I really believe David Marks should be included in this terribly short summation. Al might’a been there first but, 60+ years ago, Dave was there and I regard him as a founding member.
Quote: “The Beach Boys were formed in Hawthorne, Calif., in 1961. The group’s original lineup consisted of brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson; their cousin Mike Love; and friend Al Jardine.”
This pisses me off a bit too. Far as I’m concerned, seven members of The Beach Boys are still with us: BW, Mike, Al, Dave, Bruce, Blondie & Ricky. And they were all members of the band in roughly the first decade of its existence.
Quote: “Three of the members are still living – Brian Wilson, 80; Love, 81 and Jardine, 80. Dennis Wilson died in 1983 at age 39. Carl Wilson died in 1998 at age 51.”

The original lineup they cite is the one that is familiar to people. Sadly to most people, other than Brian Wilson, the Beach Boys are quite a faceless band. Also shocking that its 25 years since Carl died!

Does anyone know to whom one could reach out to find an answer to this or even encourage them to make sure that Dave is part of it and if possible Blondie and Ricky as well.

Bikinis and plastic palm trees? Hopefully someone worthwhile like Jeff Bridges will introduce it

Here's the CBS blurb about last years Paul Simon Grammy tribute:
"A special tribute concert honoring 16-time GRAMMY® winner Paul Simon with a special appearance by the legendary singer/songwriter himself. The tribute features a star-studded performer lineup, including Garth Brooks & Trisha Yearwood, Eric Church, Rhiannon Giddens, Susanna Hoffs, Jonas Brothers, Angélique Kidjo, Ledisi, Little Big Town, Dave Matthews, Brad Paisley, Billy Porter, Sting, Take 6, Irma Thomas, Shaggy & Jimmy Cliff, Trombone Shorty and Stevie Wonder."
Important note: it was taped on April 6th and aired over eight months later on December 21st.

He seems to have been quiet in the past few years. Hopefully he's doing good. If so, I'm sure he'll be included.

Well Dave took part in an interview that was linked through these Pages here and park me for not remembering the two brothers who have that podcast show that he appeared at, so I heard him speak live and healthy and wonderfully and many of you did as well just about a few weeks ago have he talked about the live album he did with the Summertime Blues Band and said many other things of great importance that we've yet to discuss in detail here concerning that's why God made the radio and the 50th Anniversary tour. He also said there he didn't believe he never play with Mike again but he was looking forward to playing with Al in the Surf City All-Stars. quote author=" mikedonn" source="/post/64021/thread" timestamp="1673704410"] I really believe David Marks should be included in this terribly short summation. I'm not really interested in this show unless the actual Beach Boys are there to take part in it. By that, I mean Mike, Brian, Al, Bruce and David. Don't really care if Ricky and Blondie are involved. And I can accept a semi-reunion without Brian. He sure didn't look good last year, and he may be at the stage where it's better just to stay at home. The show producers are unlikely to bring in any of the artists I would like to see singing Beach Boys songs, other than Zooey.

Agree with lonely summer 100% which is not uncommon. Has any scholar crossed referenced the various dates of Beach Boys shows to make sure everybody's going to be in town that day or any inside information? Another round of Hootie and the Blowfish doing California Girls is not to my liking. Though I think they played their hearts out today and did a fine job. Neither Mike nor Brian put anything on their Facebook page or promoted the event in any way? Nothing on the beach boy Main page? What exactly is this event? The announcement from The Producers is almost meaningless pablum cobbled together by some staffer. quote author=" lonelysummer" source="/post/64043/thread" timestamp="1673754815"]I'm not really interested in this show unless the actual Beach Boys are there to take part in it. But no promotions or advertising? well, if I remember correctly from the press release, it’s not going to be airing until “later this year”. If there’s any promo, it’ll be then, close to when it Airs. A lot more eyes are going to see this on their television than are in person.

Well in the absence of information I'm tempted to just go but don't want to create a major event and expense if it's going to be only something so empty and disappointing.
One would think that someone would leak some sort of information if the extraordinary event of all the surviving Beach Boys in the same room were to be a feature of this adventure.
Concerning a note some of you may have made about formatting responses. I use the phone app, and I have no idea how formatting appears on the desktop site. If it creates clutter when quoting, I'll have to refrain from quoting prior posts though I may be responding to them in terms of content. Thank you for this.

Well instead of wondering about it I decided to buy a ticket the least expensive one possible and not particularly close to the stage but it's a lovely theater and I'm sure they'll have a good sound system and video screens, so wasn't a matter of trying to get up front. If there's any interesting news to report or this is in fact an event that includes the living Beach Boys then I'll be right there to witness it.
Orchestra seats were 400 odd but up in the mezzanine at 75 plus taxes and fees which seem pretty reasonable.

Really hard to get information even if you buy a ticket. Same press release just rehashed all around.
There's a chance there could be luminaries performing at this or nobody's. Maybe the beach boys will be there or maybe they'll just cut in interviews from their homes where they testified how honored they are by the show making it completely artificial.
I'm sure if anyone finds any information they'll place it here, but you buy your ticket you takes your chances as the old saying says. But whatever it is, buying a ticket certainly guarantees that you'll be there at least for the part that's being filmed and who knows what they'll edit in or cut in or what else will be part of the creation of the show when it finally does come out some months later.
It's only 3 weeks away but it is possible now they're still negotiating with the band members and management and all the forces and agents that put the Beach Boys individually or collectively in one place or another for what amount of money and with what sort of publicity and all that complicated band politics. I wouldn't even talk about it unless I had committed to attending and can't help but wonder what the whole thing is all about.

I think given that both Mike and Al have talked up this tribute show, both of them making appearances wouldn’t be entirely impossible. And of course, if they are both there, Bruce would definitely be there as well. However I highly doubt Brian will be there. If he were I feel like it would’ve been noted somewhere. But I guess it would be cool to be surprised.
