How about the Coke Bottle percussion intro on 'Caroline No'? Are we still on agreeance it was a Coke bottle or was it something else? I believe Hal Blaine hit a Sparklett's water jug with a mallet. How about the bicycle bell and horn on "You Still Believe In Me"? The cello and the woo-woo machine simulating "vibrations" on "Good Vibrations? Will the judges take that?

Also used on 'IJWMFTT' and 'Wild Honey'.

As I remember reading years ago: 'Take A Load Off Your Feet' - Brian standing on his roof rustling gravel under his feet. Maybe Stephen can verify Yeah or Nah? That's what he told me back in 1985. Maybe I should post that interview here.

There’s some animal noises tacked on to the end of 20/20’s All I Want To Do, definitely not carried over from Barnyard.

How about the overdubbed applause in the closing seconds of Dennis's heart-breaking "End Of The Show"?

Loads of effects in “My Vernon and Fairway” of course e.g., running on gravel, opening a window, throwing the radio in the attic etc.
“Our Team” has effects at the start, I always thought it was people running in a corridor but maybe it is just the noise of general clapping and stamping of feet in a changing room. Not sure.
Also there are (a lot of) general farmyard noises in “Country Feeling” and also some in “Barnyard Blues” and a cockerel at the start of “Country Air”.

How about the overdubbed applause in the closing seconds of Dennis's heart-breaking "End Of The Show"? And (in contrast) applause in "Rock'N'Roll To The Rescue".

Brian‘s extremely poorly recorded 2AM ocean sounds on “Lonely Sea”. For the longest time I just thought it was really really bad tape hiss, but nope

If you crank it up, at the intro you can hear someone (Mike Love?) say, "Can you hear me singing?") There's an EXCELLENT stereo version of 'Lonely Sea' that was recently uploaded to YouTube.

Smile - Wood shop sounds. Munching vegetables. Fire. And the barnyard animal sounds qualify as both sound effects and animal references for the animal thread.

Were any of the songs on the 1964 Beach Boys Concert LP actually studio recordings with audience sounds overdubbed, or were they all actually live recordings with some overdubs? If any were studio recordings, then the audience sounds would be a sound effect.

That's what he told me back in 1985. Maybe I should post that interview here. Post it please! Al Jardine: I was wearing Birkenstock sandals, and I read the instructions that came with them; it was inspiring to read about how important your feet are to the rest of your body. And so Brian and I got carried away. He'd come down at night and sit and play the bottles, these Sparklett's bottles we had lying around. He walked around on the roof - there was this skipping sound on the end of the song, you know, and that was Brian on the asphalt roof of the garage skipping around in a circle. - Rolling Stone 1976, Felton - "The Healing Of Brother Bri"

I just went through a bunch of Lonely Sea videos on YouTube and I couldn't hear it, even on a needle drop clip. Try playing one of the original vinyl Surfin' USA albums with headphones on and I know you're hear it like I did. By the way, I remember now what Deletist is talking about. It's the version of Lonely Sea in the 1965 "Girls On The Beach" movie that has the sound effect of waves in the background.

There are indeed "ocean sounds" on all versions of Lonely Sea, that could easily be mistaken for tape noise. Gary Usher said that he and Brian recorded the ocean late at night, for atmosphere, the same way they recorded Gary's car for 409. They had to knock on someone's door to ask for an extension cable.

Most easily heard in the left channel of the stereo mix.

I hate to sound negative, but that’s got to be the worst ocean sounds ever recorded because it sounds EXACTLY like tape hiss! To my ears it’s just plain white noise with zero amplitude modulation.
Edit:
Gave it a second listen and I hear it clearly now. There’s even the sound of birds, someone shouting (Dennis? Sounds like someone shouting “Surf’s up, Bri!”) and the faint melody from the Good Humor Ice Cream truck. Wasn’t this recorded at night? Seems weird it was in business late at night…
