This is an interesting one. No date or venue info (anyone?), but Dave Marks is there along with Matt Jardine, so this must be shortly after Al was gone.

This was one of a very small number of shows that still featured Matt Jardine after Al's recent departure from the Beach Boys. Ian could confirm, but this may possibly be a private gig for Toyota at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, May, 1998. Poor guys are sweatin' their nards off!

You may be right-I'd have to look through my documentation to be sure...Didn't know it was filmed

It is the private gig for Toyota employees at Kentucky Horse Park, May '98. The video's been circulating for about 20 years now.

An historic (if somewhat a little rowdy) show - medium sound quality, but an amazing set list, with Dennis doing Forever, Lady and David Marks on the encore. Six out of seven BBs that night! The craziest stage banter, ever. The leads were pretty much all divided up. Thanks to the uploader. There is also a mention, when Dennis does his leads, that he (Dennis) just had a new 2-week old baby boy named Michael...as Mike does the intro.

The Beach Boys Live At The Queen Mary 1981

I'll never forget watching that Queen Mary concert that night in '81. I had just graduated high school that spring & we had had a big barbecue, with everyone gathered around the tv, because they knew I was a big Beach Boys fan.
The mix was terrible & the lack of Carl simply killed the vocals. I remember one friend after another asking me if they were always that, ummm, bad. Definitely not a good concert for anyone less than a hardcore fan.
Of course now, almost 40 years later, I just watched both videos & really enjoyed them, lol.
Great thread and thanks for the memories!

Does anyone happen to have a copy of The Beach Boys' appearance on the Super Bowl Pre-Game Show in 1987 (Super Bowl XXI)? They performed "Little Old Lady from Pasadena". Would be greatly appreciative if anyone had a copy they could upload! Thanks!

Great find, lol. Does anyone know the story behind this footage? Were they prepping for something in particular?

Great find, lol. Does anyone know the story behind this footage? Were they prepping for something in particular? Lone surf - I thought - for all these years - that they made that dance routine up - rather than working with the cheerleaders to learn the routine. I suppose they got their money’s worth if they still use it all these years later.

In truth, one of their best-ever sounding tv appearances. They look good on top of it. There’s a video of the Kokomo performance and the interview with Huckabee.
Three remarks:
1. In the Kokomo video (not linked), hear Mike’s low F in all its glory.
2. On Surfin Safari, he changes the first note of the second and third verse— a change I’ve never heard Mike do.
3. And they do the same steps they rehearsed 30 years ago, as shown in the above video😄

The group sounded fantastic in those clips.
As I was watching for the first time, just on my phone, my roommate (also a huge BBs fan) says from across the room "Is this recent?" And I said "Yeah, it was just last night". To which he replied, "They sound freakishly good."
I couldn't agree more. Totten's note for note perfect guitar solos. Mike and Bruce both in great shape vocally. Perfect energy from Cowsill on the drums, as always. Ike's falsetto is so strong and the confidence reminds me a 63-64 era BW. (Without getting political) I'll also say the bass guitar wasn't too shabby on Barbara Ann.
These clips made me even more excited to be seeing Mike's band three (!) times this summer.
