UK Decca and US Decca are two different animals. In the US, UK Decca pop and classical records were issued on the London label. For me Decca is Chick Webb, Bing Crosby, Brenda Lee, Webb Pierce, and The Who.

Here she is! 'Wouldn't It Be Nice'. Very interesting indeed.....
I'm not sure what to think of the 'playing in the next room' sound going on... It's quite peaceful and charming though.

Soothing. I like it. I like it very much.

It's fragile, delicate, vulnerable even, and very beautiful. Love the fact that the bum notes have been retained despite the obvious opportunities for retakes, editing and overdubs… just adds to the tone.

Brian, and many of us oldsters grew up up with this kind of thing everywhere around us. Not just in elevators. Brian elevates this to new highs. While listening, intangible asset came to mind. I'll be getting At My Piano. Brian is the bee's knees.

I’ll take the Stack-o-Tracks version. I like my Wouldn’t It Be Nice jubilant.

Quite frankly, this sounds like what you hear when you're on a website like sheetmusicplus.com, and you want to hear what the sheet music actually sounds like before you buy it, so they provide a midi-file that plays on your computer. (This is not a compliment.)

I prefer God Only Knows to Wouldn't It Be Nice, but the latter is certainly pleasant enough for me to have listened twice already.

Who can believe Brian is playing like this? That's a joke!

Who can believe Brian is playing like this? That's a joke! It's been 'confirmed' it IS Brian Wilson playing the piano parts. What more do you need to know?
Are you that 'fooled' to think that he couldn't do these parts? This guy wrote the stuff, and had to explain it in the day to his musical companions. Why is it a Joke? There's no one better that knows Brian Wilson music better than Brian Wilson. It's almost an insult you think this is somebody else. Clean out the ears, listen to the dude play his stuff.

Who can believe Brian is playing like this? That's a joke! You, sir, are the joke. I asked someone who would most definitely know and he said yes, it's all Brian. You might have heard of him: name of Sahanaja. Darian Sahanaja. Granted there's overdubs and probably a little light comping, but every note on the album was played by Brian Wilson.

Same Brian Wilson who pioneered overdubbing, skilful editing, double tracking and the like. Same BW who’d show other musicians their parts on their own instruments. Guy helped shape the history of recorded music. He’s more than capable of what’s been done here, even at the age of 79.

I do appreciate that it seems like the digital trickery was left to a minimum, there are still some flubs and natural tempo shifts that were left in, which I can appreciate

Remarkably, Brian included Mike’s signature “goodnight baby” tag in this instrumental version of WIBN, thus acknowledging it as an integral part of the composition.

Remarkably, Brian included Mike’s signature “goodnight baby” tag in this instrumental version of WIBN, thus acknowledging it as an integral part of the composition. I can see that being the role of Darian in all of this. Brian plays basic track, overdubs melody, then any signature background parts.
'Brian, can you pick it up at this point and play the 'goodnight baby' melody on top of what you just did'. One or two quick passes, it's done! This was probably quite a quick project to put together, I don't see how people find it hard to believe it's not Brian
all the way through, that puzzles me. These are all parts he built his songwriting career on, and what he delegated to the individuals to play. Is there overdubbing? Of course there is! That's what I'm digging about this, we almost get his own vision of a 'Full Record Produced by Brian Wilson' in his own words. To think what he is playing, we finally get to hear what he heard in his head all those years ago.

I do appreciate that it seems like the digital trickery was left to a minimum, there are still some flubs and natural tempo shifts that were left in, which I can appreciate He wasn't capable enough in 64 when he was fired by Phil Spector because he was not good enough as a puano player. And NOW, sorry but I don't think he is capable at all. DS says what he wants. I don't believe him. Anyway, this type of piano playing isn't very interesting. I think some people could have love what Brian did in his father's plate, a long time ago, just because it was from Brian... So you're calling Darian a liar ? I've known him since 2002 and he's one of the two flat-out nicest people I've ever met in the BB world (the other is Boyd). He's also one of the co-producers of this set, and lying like that would serve no point. As for Brian being "capable", some eleven years and industrial amounts of drugs (legal and otherwise) after Spector asked him to leave a session, I watched him play "Rhapsody In Blue" and believe me (although you probably won't), he was more than capable then. As I've said more than once, of course it's not Brian playing the song front to back, one take... but if Darian tells me he's playing every note I'm hearing, then he is. As for you, that comment makes you beneath my contemp, and trust me, that's about as low as it gets.

If it weren’t for the “Brian Wilson is a genius” media campaign, we probably wouldn’t be so troubled trying to pinpoint if he does all by himself, or rushing to justify every time he gets help. That very successful media campaign, which he hired and helped orchestrate, was extremely pernicious to him personally, I think, and in the long run was detrimental to fans’ perception of his musical activity ever since.

I think the trouble comes in more with the promotion of Brian Wilson as an active, creative force when it would be more accurate to describe him as semi-retired since 1968. Not that the modern Team Brian started it, but they've played fast and loose plenty with who's doing the actual work of album-making. (Or kept their honest moments to the marginalia of trade interviews.) I think Brian's name being put on No Pier Pressure represented a breaking point for some people, and a lot of what you're seeing here is fallout from those bad feelings.

I see someone has deleted their "Darian is lying" post. Fortunately, the quote of it remains.
