"South Bay Surfer" is the clunkiest surf toon they ever performed.

Noble Surfer is my choice Really? But that groovey Celsta is divine! Isn't that something you take when you have indigestion? Yes, the celesta is very cool! I don't hate the track (I don't hate anything or anyone, except perhaps Hitler and Saddam Hussein) -- it's just that the odd iffy harmonies were something to latch onto when deciding what to vote off first.

Strictly speaking, LH’s not car song… True, but, sadly, there weren’t enough motor bike songs to justify such a dedicated category.

Prefer Cherry Cherry in it’s Land Ahoy incarnation, Mike sounds like he’s asleep at the wheel on CCC.

Aww. I love the vibe of "CCC". I went for "BOOB", because of that one iffy chord at the end. I love BOOB but I find Brian’s articulation of “…beauty” a bit wobbly after a killer first verse. Prefer Cherry Cherry in it’s Land Ahoy incarnation, Mike sounds like he’s asleep at the wheel on CCC. That's what I like about "CCC" -- its hypnotic feel. I'm not sure it deserves the lambasting it's getting! As for "BOOB", I'd never noticed "beauty" before (at 1:30). It's as if Brian's laying emphasis on the word -- the note on the "bee" sounds too deliberate to me to be a flubbed note that he quickly corrects. I like it -- it reminds me of the stunning melisma at the end of "We'll Run Away". My iffy chord is the second in the descending sequence (at 2:08/2:09 in both videos). Curiously, it sounds fine in the original mono! I only know it from the 2001 remastered stereo version, where it sounds a tiny bit off. I'd be curious to know if anyone else ( sans cloth ears) hears this difference:

Blimey you’re right, someone’s flatting there ! Where was Murry when they needed him most?!? Do you hear it in both versions? It's much less obtrusive to my ears in the mono version, the version Brian would have approved for release.

"Ballad of Ole' Betsy" is a clunker, timing is off.

Ah shoot. This is what happens when you don’t check on this board and are busy with a Genesis board. I miss stuff! No worries I’ll be back on a somewhat regular basis.

Welcome one, Welcome back all!!!
Come as you are to the Gladatorial Arena that is BB Lifestyles Survivor, where in order to promote and protect your favourite songs path to the righteous title of Survivor, you can influence, convince, kidnap or bribe your hearts out. Whatever it takes!!!
We're back combing through the tangled hair of BB LOVE songs that appeared on Albums between 62-65, excluding Today, Party, Concert and Christmas for which I've something else in store.
My least favourite LOVE Song this heat is Your So Good To Me - not that I don't like it, Brian sings well and the lyrics are a nice dedication to the Divine Mrs Wilson de jour. It's a little A-tuneful to me, it's simplistic pounding groove punching well below the melodic heights of many a Wilson tune before or after. A good 'un, but not a great 'un.

I was part of a late burst against Pom Pom Play Girl. Brian, in his notes on the back cover for SDSN, said he was glad he'd finally written a song Carl dug singin' (GDTM) so we can infer that Carl didn't dig singing this one and it's always seemed a little lacklustre to me.
