Amusement Parks. While I quite like Brian's use of sound here (and the comedy), thematically, it smacks of running out of ideas Agreed, going with Amusement Parks USA for this round. |

I happen to love amusement parks, particularly roller coasters, and I like the song about them. I've gone to POP (Pacific Ocean Park) and missed it when they closed. I was disappointed when "Amusement Parks USA" was removed from the Capitol re-issue of "Summer Days" LP, renamed "California Girls" back in the 60s. I couldn't understand how they could remove that song, but leave "Summer Means New Love" and "And Your Dream Comes True" on. I hate to see this voted out. ("Amusement Parks USA deleted from this album).  |

Looks like I have better memories of amusement parks than some of you.
Hondas on the other hand... My folks gave me a Honda 90. I was so less
interested after a couple of wrecks. Cars, I love cars. I'm still driving. A
Buick these days, and have never had a wreck. I have bought a couple of
Buicks in the last ten years, but my true love is Pontiacs. I bought those
until they stopped making them.

A serious stop for Amusement Parks USA, the tribe has spoken and their words were “crash and burn”, which almost applied to Little Honda with just one vote away from destruction.
I’m under the pump this morning, but will be back in 4 or so hours with the next 17.
In the meantime, someone find that bloody idol!
Clues so far are: melodic monocle, pit - and it’s a visible “pacific island” themed image somewhere on this forum!

Welcome back to another tough grind as we chisel away at 17 remaining gems plucked from a selection of the pre Pet Sounds era.
It's getting down to which songs would you be less likely to immediately play for me - and it might be Hawaii, which I think suffers from a shakey lead and a bit of a rush job production - who knows why, but it may have benefitted from another pass re all vocals (except Mickey Mouse Brian, he's on fire).

The fuel injected Stingray, the LDC or the Little Honda? Tach it up, tach it up?
Will the Coupe break out the wings and fly? Maybe the Honda will need to turn on it's lights to ride on into the night?

I have a bit of a soft spot for Little Honda . Saw Brian singing this some years back and he seemed engaged and happy doing so.
Really like the version that’s on Keep an Eye on Summer. The organ on the verses, particularly the last verse, adds a lot to the song. But that’s not the version being voted on here.
Oh well, it was going to be voted off soon anyway. So many good songs left; getting harder to decide what to knock off.

Okey, welcome back ye tribe of terror members, as we continue the unthinkable by voting off songs selected from some of the most amazing pre-Pet Sounds music known to human kind.
I'm starting out by gunning for Hawaii again, compared to the rest of the pack, it's a bit lacking in fairy dust, other than ole Bri's falsetto, the verse is a bit phoned-in not to mention loosey-goosey.
There is an idol still in play - check my last post! PM me the location if you chance upon it!

Little Deuce Coupe and Custom Machine have been shown the highway and the way back to Michigan etc.
Still quite surprised by Little Deuce Coupe, but that's the beauty of this crazy game.
The final fourteen are up in a minute (it's just the previous 16 less 2, btw).

Gee, old Hawaii seems to be keeping a low profile for a track that shows it's some loose verses including a somewhat average vocal. So I'm voting for it again, although I may change votes depending on the trending.
Now, again, someone go find that idol - it's not really hidden, it's not anywhere obscure, and it's in easy reach of any art appreciator.
If you find it, pm me and I shall grant you a boon to restore a favourite or ditch a least favourite, either this poll or any single poll from now until the last 3.

Alan, ooooh your hard on the ol' 'Hawaii', how could you be with that wonderful Brian falsetto? The ending alone is worthy of it staying on a little longer.... Never thought about how simple the track is, no guitar or piano solo's... Great harmony vocals from the boys.
I'm going to have to shift gears myself, 'Don't Back Down'. Clever chord changes in this one, but not enough for me to say your in my top 14. Guess I'm a little bit nuts.

It’s a “pacific islander” style ceremonial piece - something you’d bring back from a holiday as a tasteful souvenir - and something you’d see on Survivor TV show; it’s visible on the main board - if you appreciate pop art from the mid 60s to early 70s and like to view things via a very melodic monocle, you can’t miss it! |
