This changes things. I'm for "Surfer's Rule" as least favorite. I guess The 4 Seasons aren’t believing it after all.

This changes things. I'm for "Surfer's Rule" as least favorite. I guess The 4 Seasons aren’t believing it after all. This is a list of some really great tracks. I'll be back to the whippin' stick for "Little Honda" before you know it. Can't believe "Surfer's Rule" outlasted "Our Car Club" -which I love. "Surfer's Rule" has great vocals, especially when Brian joins in. Sure I laughed the first time hearing it in early 1964 when I got the Surfer Girl album. I didn't get them in the order they were released. I heard the singles on the radio, a friend had the Surfin' U.S.A. album, then I asked for "Shut Down" and "409" and was given Shut Down Summer '63 . Little Deuce Coupe was the only "real" Beach Boys album I owned in 1963. "Fun Fun Fun" did its magic, and I got Shut Down Vol. 2 and Surfer Girl for my birthday in April '64. I was a 4 Seasons fan in '62. I had the singles of "Sherry" and "Big Girls Don't Cry" - both 1962, and "Walk Like A Man" in early '63. All #1 hits. They had more hits in 1964, but I don't think The Beach Boys had anything to worry about once All Summer Long was released, except The Beatles.

Either Shut Down Vol. 2 or All Summer Long was the first Beach Boys album in the house. As was with most kids in those days, you bought the 45s. I don’t think the albums started until my brother got a job, then he was buying one a week. I was also a big 4 Seasons fan too. I remember all those Vee Jay & Phillips 45s. Same goes for Jan & Dean. We had all of the Liberty 45’s. I remember Linda particularly well, as it was played to death. The bro’s first gf was named Linda. As for the Beatles, neither my bro or sis were fans, so only a few of the Vee Jay 45’s were in the collection. My fav was the Do You Want To Know A Secret/Thank You Girl 45.

It's a genuine fact that Surfer's Rule is the hell outta the competition!!!
By the looks of things, it gonna get pretty messy moving forward, get your tissue boxes and sympathetic relatives at-the-ready!!!
Next 20 up soon!

***The Tribes are merged - The final 20 tracks are up for the grind - an immunity idol is still in play!!!***Okay, I admit I understand why to some there is a romantic appeal in the macho lyrics of "but show them now who's got guts" that rhyme with the little "nuts" (of the mental instability variety of course), but I find this closer to 1964's epic All Summer Long album more a dumper than a wipeout!!!!!!!

Aww. I like Brian's squawked "guts". It's endearing, much like his French in "At My Window". Makes me want to give him a big hug. Thanks for all your hard work, A, laced as it is with Aussie humour.

You do realize that a dumper and a wipeout are essentially the same thing?

No Go Showboat is mothballed!!! The Tribe has spoken.
But wait! Don't forget, somewhere on this forum is an hidden (in plain view) immunity idol, which will bring the lucky discoverer great power without great responsibility - the ability to revive or eliminate a song, at any stage of the game (except the final).
Have another peek through your melodic monocles, and see what you may find.

Glad to have you hear on Beach Boy Survivor - Lifestyles, where we are voting off our least favourites until we get to a final 2 tracks plucked from the vintage pre-Pet Sounds era.
It's a pretty amazing bunch of songs and with perhaps only the slightest of quibbles or persnickety pedantry on hand to inform your votes, it may be time to unleash your own inner survivor to cajole, coax and coerce your fellow players into pandering to your aims!
And as mentioned, there is still an immunity idol in play - I've slightly peppered particular previous posts with pointers and portents providing a path to possession of the precious doodad.
I'm again pushing for the elimination of Don't Back Down, and I'm not wavering from that position, uh-kay?

“Drive In,” and “Don’t Back Down” are two of my favorites. I think the only way I am going to save both of them is to try to get enough votes for something else, probably “Little Honda.”

DBD - their last great surfing song until Do It Again, which is more about nostalgia/innocence. I'm tempted by Catch a Wave but I'm going Drive In

I've just thrown a die to decide whether "TWOTS" (1/2), "In My Room" (3/4) or "Shut Down" (5/6) will get the axe this time.
Ah, a two...

Goodbye Drive-In, hello next round as we pound on through the remaining 18 excellent tracks pulled from The Beach Boys pre-Pet Sounds era.
I'll kick off with Don't Back Down, but may chop'n'change in order to knife another track.
I'm still yet to get a PM about the visible on this forum immunity idol. It's not hidden away in a pit or anything, keep those peepers peeled, peeps!

Amusement Parks. While I quite like Brian's use of sound here (and the comedy), thematically, it smacks of running out of ideas

Let's go for LDC this time! Count me out. I have fond memories of first hearing "LCD" on French radio in '63. But what song was it? Being a Yurpean, I misread the title in the Billboard top twenty as "Little Dee-oose Coo-pay"!
