After round 4 it's over now for Dick Reynolds. Go put a Frank Sinatra album on ("If I ever love again" would be an appropriate tribute)
New poll to follow.

I'm fine with either of the bottom three getting the boot at this point. Almer I guess.

I think Dragon is the easy pick here. After this it will start getting more difficult for me. Jakobson vs. Kalinich is a tough one.

I struggled with this one. I voted for Kalinich first, but then changed to Dragon. For Kalinich I really only like Little Bird and California Feelin'. From Dragon I really like the Dennis and Rumbo single. This was a tough one for me. After these 2 are gone, it gets challenging for me.

On some level - because Daryl was on the road with them, he was able to provide on-the-ground - and on-the-fly guidance - this is one of my favorites, even having to shake out what looks like a tack piano for that certain sound effect that was desired. I'm not ready to say goodbye.

My vote goes to Kalinich. I think Little Bird and California Feelin' are great songs, but since I only like 2 of his collaborations I am voting him off. The rest of the guys on the list have multiple great song collaborations.

Going with Van Dyke Parks. Like Mike, I still would like to know what “Over and over the crow cries uncover the corn field” means.

Going with Van Dyke Parks. Like Mike, I still would like to know what “Over and over the crow cries uncover the corn field” means. Always seemed odd to me that that was the line that pushed Mike over the edge. By Parks' standards, it makes near perfect sense! In that very song, there are more peculiar lines. I think it works as a simple association between crows and cornfields, which is consistent with the setting/imagery of the rest of the song. I'd also think Mike would appreciate that it sounds good (and why it does). On each beat, you get the "o" sound: Over and over the c row cries un cover the c ornfield.

I was being facetious referencing the famous Mike/Van exchange, but will say that on the whole I prefer the Love, Christian, Asher type of lyrics. I love the lyrics to Wonderful, Surf’s Up, Wind Chimes and H&V, but I don’t think I would be as big a Beach Boys fan if VDP had been Brian’s sole lyricist.

I honestly think some of those Smile songs are great in spite of the lyrics.

I'll go Rieley. I don't think he or Parks are great lyricists, but Jack's name also isn't on Surf's Up.

Im going with Roger Christian here. I know he contributed to some very important works, including don’t worry baby. However, I don’t think he brought that much more to the band as a collaborator than they already had. I see Love and Usher as superior lyricists. I feel the others in this list brought something unique to the band that they couldn’t have attained otherwise. Maybe with the exception of some very specific car references.
