Someone if the were to remix the whole BB85 album with real instruments then it would be a very solid album, tracks like Where I Belong would sound amazing even Its Getting Late would sound fantastic

With two votes each, Bachman, Winfrey, and Levine get the boot in round 2.
I guess people really don’t like the production on BB85
New poll will be up shortly

I'm going with Andy Paley. Granted, those songs would've provided a better BB swan song for Carl than SIP (or S&S), but I just don't think they're that great.

I'm a little surprised by the Reynolds hate. The xmas album stuff is fine, and I thought he did a nice job on It's Over Now and Still I Dream Of It

My pick is John Phillips. As great as he was in the sixties (I own everything he did in that period), he was a drug goner in the seventies.
Somehow, the Mamas and Papas managed to put together a pretty good record in 1971 to close out that group. It stopped right there.

(big boys in command) to make you a poller mod. If they will, please put a graphic-type with the results as we go deal.

I'm also voting off Dick.
I know he was highly respected in the industry, and obviously had Brian's respect, but those Christmas arrangements aren't my cuppa - they seem to be less about Dick arranging to complement the boys, but more the boys singing to complement Dick.
The A/C stuff is okay but nothing amazing.

I get your point though, Dick has drawn fire when some other types seem to have flown under the radar.

Evidently Joe Thomas’ contributions to TWGMTR were not enough to spare him in this poll. Round 4 will be up shortly.

Perhaps these voters, and the Dick Reynolds voters, prefer Summer In Paradise and the instrumental contributions made to it by Terry Melcher?

Maybe so, or the sound of the C50 live album ate up any goodwill to Thomas.

I'm going with Geoffrey-Cushing Murray this round. My favorite songs on LA Light Album (one of my least favorite bbs albums) did not feature his contributions

The A/C stuff is okay but nothing amazing. The Reynolds stuff I sorta like on the Christmas album - side two - some of that stuff needed that orchestration. The side one stuff was strong enough - is still strong enough to be an annual favorite. And, then there was still a big band Lawrence Welk TV demography influence in the industry which may have brought those watching those shows to get an intro to the BBs in an innocuous way. It gave some pi-zazz.

I'm going with Andy, whose contributions Pale(y) in comparison IMO. To be fair, I have a very positive view of Paley which likely colors my vote. Nonetheless I do think Soul Searchin and You’re Still a Mystery eclipse a lot of the mundane output from the late 70s and 80s...and most certainly the 90s

This time I voted Murry off - as a collaborator - you gotta give the devil his due - he did kick down the doors at the outset as a manager.

Same here, not my cuppa. That orchestration is like nails on a chalkboard for me, with the orchestra and the Boys clashing musically. I'm not a fan of the Royal Philharmonic treatment, either.
