Dan McGeever. He did similar at the Jeff and Billy gig in Glasgow in 2003 (at which Jeff informed BBs&BW fans that he’d been asked to go through the vaults and dig out Smile tapes in prep for a tour in 2004), and everyone’s jaws dropped, including those of Jeff and Billy, who recovered sufficiently to contribute backing vocals to the Child is the Father… tag. Outstanding talent. Dan was absolutely fantastic 👏 👌 Surf's Up....

PJ, you're a hero! Didn't Daniel perform The Night Was So Young after this one? He should have gotten half an hour more for the rest of the Love You album. Or for whatever he wanted to play actually. He was excellent! We were treated with more Love You tracks btw. And I think most (ex) BW band members - whether present or on Zoom were in favor of performing that album live as a whole .

I was racking my brains trying to think of Dan's second song. I now recall some of us were helping out by whistling/singing the little guitar figure! Indeed, he could have performed for much longer. Yes, that album loomed large on Saturday! Sounds good: "The Brian Wilson Band Plays Love You Live".

Was Sean Macreavy there? Met him in 1992 at one of the San Diego conventions. Great guy and great talent!
How about Francis Greene? Another talented bloke and a good guy.

Sean was there and performed with his friend. They did an awesome rendition of Leaving This Town. I haven't seen Francis for many years at the UK conventions.

About a minute of The Night..... Thank you again, sir. Man, he was good. And, I can hear myself whistling on this one! PJ, were you in the area of the Dutch stall and even spoke with some of us during the course of the event? I'm also thinking of the camera angle...

Yup, myself and partner were indeed sat next to the Dutch stall. To my right was a guy with a Beach Boys tattoo on his forearm, to my left my partner and to her left a chap using a DSLR(maybe a Lumix).

Oh yes mate, lurking online since 1999 in all those places (Even Male Ego board), same period I started going Stomp and BB Britain Events. Got heavily addicted after Endless Harmony was broadcast in 1998.

Maybe I'm thinking of him, unless you came and spoke with our table. Whatever the case, thanks a million for those videos.

Anybody going, just walk up to somebody random and say 'Hey!....'Rick Bartlett' couldn't make it, but he says Hello!'. You'll probably get a dazed look on their face as they wont have a clue who your talking about. That's okay, Just do it anyway! Well, it was still quite busy when it was getting close to closing time. The bar had shut down and the management and staff were keen to see the place empty out so that they could do the basic tidying up and then go home to bed. So I said to no one in particular, "Hey!....'Rick Bartlett' couldn't make it, but he says Hello!" The place was empty in seconds. Just kidding, Rick.

Here's the programme. I believe the three acts between the first two breaks ended up in reverse order. "Film showing" is the early Jack Rieley footage and "Harmony Workshop" is Sean putting us through our paces on "In My Room". I can't recall who Ric was (with Sean in the second slot, after the excellent GTOs), except that he was a singer-songwriter. And there was an amazing unannounced version of "Surf's Up" (voice and piano) towards the end but I can't recall that bloke's name either. Cheers for the programme - helps the memory no end (yes, I did have a few sherberts ). Ric is Ric Neale - great fella as well as a great singer/songwriter/musician. See Ric Neale for more.

It was a great day and evening. Wonderful to meet up with some old friends, barnsy, Ken, and a host of others. The Dutch film was great (though looked a little speeded up to me) so went and bought Western Justice. Need to find a quiet moment to enjoy the whole concept. As others said lots of great performances: Sean and Ric; Nelson and Scott; Alan Carvell (I wanted to find my son's skateboard) and the GTOs, Tom Wardle, Dan McGeever, Zander and co, and many others - clips already abound and soon there will be official (?) ones from the day. Looking forward to David Leaf's new book and the irrepressible Ed Roach's book. The love especially for Probyn Gregory was moving, as was the applause for Brian's message and lovely to have a short clip of Brian from Darian (in Arizona). Others deserving of a mention, Sean for all his hard work. Roy G for being there and getting a shout out from David Leaf. and Val for organising the whole thing. Its great the online community but always best to meet in person. You can't beat that.

I'd never experienced anything like that before. You can feel the warmth of feeling among fans here at EH and BBT but to be actually a couple of hundred (actually 175!) folks who love the Boys (without any of the Boys being there) takes that warmth to another level. Well, we listened to close on thirteen hours of BB music on the car journey from NL to Lutterworth and back. Much of it was new to me and a lot of it was live. I've always been a bit suspicious of the Boys as a live band but this may have converted me! Indeed, the weekend as a whole has rekindled my love for their music, this time in all its facets. Who would have thought it? Many thanks to SMiLE-Holland for the kind offer of a lift, otherwise I would never have thought of going.

Mikie , (sent before I put my reply in the right place) Ed stated he was working on a book and that he was also (I think or could be the same booky working on the possibility of limited edition photo book. He certainly has the stories and the photos. Whether it will come off, who knows. I look forward in hope.

I was the guy that provided the Western Justice Dec. 1974 docu. I don't have the impression it was sped up. The commentator's voice did sound a bit high (but I think that's how he talked actually). The only thing I did to improve the docu, was to amplify the sound (it was really low). And add subtitles, so everyone in the hall understood what was said (even Jack R. occasionally talked Dutch!).
I can understand if there were fans who didn't care too much about this docu, as the Beach Boys aren't a part of it and are only mentioned once. But just to see Jack Rieley move around, talk, sing (sort of), and interact in 1974, just 2 years after the Holland-saga, makes it unique. As far as I know we haven't seen any movies with Jack during the BB-era of 1970-73, let alone in colour. And, man, did they smoke a lot then, or what ?
Glad that you were the lucky buyer of the Western Justice album. I had tipped my friend on bringing a copy along, just in case the docu would make the fans interested in hearing it. Apparently it worked! You missed the chance though to buy a Dutch promotional LP with the single version of Cry Child Cry (which I had for sale) .
Anyway, enjoy the album! Give it a few listens; it ain't bad at all (apart from the one-but-last track 'Frogs' perhaps).
And finally: indeed a huge compliment is in order for Val, Marc, and Sean for organizing this event and running the whole program smoothly.
