Anybody going, just walk up to somebody random and say 'Hey!....'Rick Bartlett' couldn't make it, but he says Hello!'. You'll probably get a dazed look on their face as they wont have a clue who your talking about. That's okay, Just do it anyway!

For those who didn't attend, it was a wonderful day.
But the major take away from the day was Brian gave a brief appearance via clip provided by Darian over Zoom. Little no more than 5-7 seconds, but Brian said he loved all his fans in the UK.

I think that the guy with Scott and Nelson is Scotts brother in law... but I'm not certain.

I remembered him being introduced as Tom Wardle (and that he was originally from Nottingham (UK) before moving to the US for a music career) so Google takes me to link. I recall it was said Scott was producing an album for him?

Little no more than 5-7 seconds, but Brian said he loved all his fans in the UK. It was indeed. A packed schedule of events - musical performances, Zoom calls from D Leaf, D Sahanaja, P Gregory, E Roach, D Beard (possibly more, I should have taken home a copy of the schedule!). That was you on keyboards Zander? Very nicely played. Meeting up with folks old and new (special shoutout to jk) was a delight.

That was me on keyboards mate ha ha 😂 The hastly assembled "Golden Penetrators" were a bit rough around the edges but it's all about the love of the music isn't it? Just a shame we'd had a few beers to cloud our minds, but we loved it 🍺👍🏄♂️

Thanks as well to SMiLE-Holland for the Jack Rieley film. Cheers Klaas! Yeah, that was a great little docu, wasn’t it? Took quite some effort to get those subtitles done and upgrade the sound a bit. But I think it was worth it. You’re welcome, barnsy 🙂.

And what about Daniel’s solo perfornance of Surfs Up! That one got a well-deserved applause

I recall it was said Scott was producing an album for him? Hi barnsy ! Really cool to meet you. Pity I couldn't locate anyone else from EH. I even made several rounds of the room clutching my phone with an enlargement of Ken W's avatar on it, to no avail. I was the grey-blazered geezer in the corner next to the Dutch stall, looking slightly overwhelmed. I still am -- I'd never experienced anything like that before. You can feel the warmth of feeling among fans here at EH and BBT but to be actually among a couple of hundred (?) folks who love the Boys (without any of the Boys being there) takes that warmth to another level. As for Tom Wardle and Scott (a most affable man who along with Nelson signed the booklet from my copy of TLOS), I found this on Twitter (I refuse to call it X): "The finale track on my new album is sounding epic. It's like my version of Dewey Cox's 'Beautiful Ride'! A real joy for me writing it with two of Brian Wilson's best collaborators, Scott Bennett (That Lucky Old Sun) and Van Dyke Parks (SMiLE). Brian's band play on it too". [ Source] Scott co-produced this EP for Tom, so he's probably doing the same for the forthcoming album, which I believe is called Tom Wardle's Picks...

You're a true gentleman. Yeah, being among so many other BB fans (I heard a figure of 175 mentioned) like that gladdens the heart no end. Big thanks to Val Johnson-Howe for organising it and to those who helped with the running of it. Cheers for the further info on Tom.

Here's the programme. I believe the three acts between the first two breaks ended up in reverse order. "Film showing" is the early Jack Rieley footage and "Harmony Workshop" is Sean putting us through our paces on "In My Room". I can't recall who Ric was (with Sean in the second slot, after the excellent GTOs), except that he was a singer-songwriter. And there was an amazing unannounced version of "Surf's Up" (voice and piano) towards the end but I can't recall that bloke's name either.

He did similar at the Jeff and Billy gig in Glasgow in 2003 (at which Jeff informed BBs&BW fans that he’d been asked to go through the vaults and dig out Smile tapes in prep for a tour in 2004), and everyone’s jaws dropped, including those of Jeff and Billy, who recovered sufficiently to contribute backing vocals to the Child is the Father… tag. Outstanding talent.

I was Dennis for half an hour -- the most exhausting half-hour of my life. Curiously, Sean added a personal twist to the harmonies in the bridge, which had Brian, Dennis and Carl singing some very close harmony on "sigh" (B, A and G respectively)! And Carl's G on "cry" became an A. Oh well. Massive congrats to Sean for getting anything at all out of us ne'er-do-wells. I've been thinking about why I missed various people. They may have thought, "Oh sh!t, it's jk!" and done a Nick Venet and ducked under the table until I left the area.
