All that second image is good for is for a documentary that covers 1961-1966. For more years than not, at least the first ad is a better representation of how the band really looked.

Am I missing something -- does the writing on the surfboard have any actual connection to the Beach Boys? I don't recgnize the quote.

New age self-help waffle* that didn't exist in 1962.

That seriously puzzled me too cos it looks like the kinda random thing that gets thrown into Ai-generated images. Which would explain that weird thing that’s happened to Carl’s face too.

I think both posters are great with the exception of the 'Carl' in the second pic looking 'off' and not really even like Carl, whereas all the other guys are recognizably themselves.
And the writing on the surfboard is a little confusing, unless those are quotes from the movie, in which case the inclusion kinda makes sense.

Either poster is fine by me. Can't say I really care so much over which poster they go with; just hope the documentary itself turns out to be satisfying. Pretty sure the average Disney+ streamer isn't going to give anything more than half a second thinking about how the poster itself looks either. 🤷🏼♂️

Looks like Carl to me -- just with a goofy grin -- like they caught him just starting to smile. I mean, heck, they've caught Dennis with his tongue sticking out!

If I remember correctly from Saturday both David Leaf and Ed Roach believe it similarly only goes up to about 1980. I think David said it would be 2 hours (I don't know if that includes any commercial breaks).

I'm really interested to see what they're going to show in terms of the Beach Boys getting together at Paradise Cove and singing together. I was surprised that Al had to convince the producers to let them sing together. What producer in the world worth their salt would want to get the beach boys together and not have already thought of the idea of them singing together if they want to.
Al said he got them to bring a guitar Jimmy Buffett's guitar; I wonder if Dave is also at Paradise Cove with them and also has a guitar. I really want to know what it was like at that last time perhaps that all the surviving Beach Boys are together and sang together. This seems to be to be so beautiful so important and so poignant and I can't wait to see what the result was.

Am I missing something -- does the writing on the surfboard have any actual connection to the Beach Boys? I don't recognize the quote. Well it's obvious "& The Discover" comes from Van Dyke Parks & The Discover America Orchestra (they're on YouTube). Dunno about the rest -- "valuing self"?? Perhaps they mixed up Brian Wilson the musician with Brian Wilson the sociologist (or Brian Wilson the baseball player). (Sorry about that, still a bit high after Saturday's event)

That is a bit disappointing as there's a lot of stuff they could cover since 1974 (the maligned "Brian's Back" campaign, the passing of Dennis and Carl, the surprise success of "Kokomo", the controversial Landy years, the 50th anniversary, etc). But I suppose if the doc itself only has at least a 90-minute runtime, trying to cram all that information will make for a very truncated documentary in terms of detailing the band's story. Perhaps if this one does well they can provide a sequel doc to tell the rest of the band's history.

AI image rendering tends to do stuff like that, face sweetening. Other than that, it looks no worse than Mike's AI output face.

So, according to the posts above, we've got a 90 minute doc that lasts two hours, which runs up to 1974 and cuts off at 1980. Hope that's cleared everything up.

What's a "knacker". Is that the same as a "nard" or a "gonad"?
