I always avoid these things in LA but I'm not avoiding this offer and I think the situation is usually that they over book and just take the people who actually show up an hour early so there's a danger of being Sol and my plan is to get there early and guarantee a spot.

I'm guessing that's adverts included?

So for TV, that would fit into a 2.5 or 3 hour time slot with the same endless 3 commercials I'm guessing.

Seems you have to belong to the media to access DISNEY+'s press photos for the doc. Well, in the US anyway. For the UK, it's all online.

By the way, the IMAX poster is MUCH BETTER. Not stellar, but still miles ahead of the original one used.

It’s still horrible. David looks stoned, Dennis has his tongue sticking out, Carl looks like a mannequin…. This is supposed to make people open up their wallet and buy a ticket? This band of incompetent people that are putting this junk out should be exiled to the cornfield. Along with the clowns that put those horrible videos together…. These are not qualified professionals doing this stuff. Both of these posters are embarrassingly bad.

Choice of images aside and the choices have not been stellar, I'm still bothered by the fact that Al had to suggest to them that they sing at Paradise cove. From what he said the producers were puzzled by this idea that you get the beach boys together one last time and they might sing. And they had to ask him what kind of guitar he wanted? Why didn't Dave and Al just naturally bring their guitars? Don't know exactly what was going on with the producers but any group of people that think it's a good way to end a documentary by having the Beach Boys talk has never really heard the Beach Boys talk to each other because when they do they really don't say much.

I wanted to see what I could do in like 15 minutes. That is how long it took me for this.

The graffiti has gone from the surfboard. Much better without it.

No offense but methinks you're probably overreacting just a *tad*. I honestly didn't even notice any of these things until you pointed them out. The poster is fine as far as I'm concerned. If people choose (or not choose) to watch this doc it won't be based on what they think of the poster. "Man I was so stoked to see this Beach Boys movie on the IMAX...if only Dennis didn't have his tongue sticking out on the poster! Now it's all ruined and I'm never listening to the Beach Boys ever again!! Damn that infernal poster!!" 🙄

I have always wanted the band to be shown in the best possible light. It’s a part of what makes up my fandom. Just ignore us, if our type of fandom annoys you.🙂

And of course there's nothing wrong with wanting the band to be portrayed well; I'm just simply injecting some pragmatism into the conversation. The band has a 60+ year legacy readily available to anyone that wants to explore it; this documentary (and certainly the posters and promotional material attached to it) will hardly derail anything.

Well someone has leaked part of the documentary to me personally and they accurately tell the story about how Melvin and Aubrey went to Guatemala and prior to that they had left the boys a full set of musical instruments, which the boys then sold in order to buy hamburgers and root beer, so they've got that part of the story nailed down correctly which inspires some confidence.

You don’t need a degree in graphic arts (photography in particular as I do) to deduce that no thought or creativity went into these advertisements. Any rank and file wedding photographer would scrap a picture where the subjects (in this case The Beach Boys) look bad….it’s portrait photography 101. Remember the back photo cover of the TWGMTR cd?…Brian looked off balance and had an unflattering look … LAZY STUPID NONSENSE. One of Brian’s kids shot the cover photo for NPP and that is a masterpiece compared to this stuff. This last hooray while the remaining members are still here is being phoned in by incredibly lazy people that are barely trying. It’s baffling. I thought the cover for the Feel Flows box set was also pretty crummy… wasn’t that a contest or something and the winner is the one that came up with cartoons of… again… not flattering portraits? What the hell…? That’s all I’m asking. How about spending a couple of bucks and hiring some pros?

It's totally fine if you don't like the cover art but I completely doubt that anyone but the diehards like us are even taking notice of these things (I've never even *noticed* or cared at all about the picture on the back cover of TWGMTR). I'll just leave it with this: if these poster covers and promotional materials are anywhere near as crucial as you and others seem to think in determining this documentary's overall success, then we might as well hail 𝑆𝑢𝑚𝑚𝑒𝑟 𝐼𝑛 𝑃𝑎𝑟𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑒 as a triumphant masterpiece of an album.

The cover isn’t the problem… The title is. “The Beach Boys” by The Beach Boys Not to be confused with that other thing called “The Beach Boys” by The Beach Boys. Or that other other thing called “The Beach Boys” by The Beach Boys. And don’t even get me started on whatever they’re going to label the Soundtrack as on streaming services. “The Beach Boys” (Music From the Motion Picture The Beach Boys) by The Beach Boys. Not to be confused with that other thing that they have on streaming services that’s an official album just called “The Beach Boys” by The Beach Boys.
I’m getting the smallest of ideas these men who sing about activities that happen to take place in oceans might collectively be known as “The Beach Boys”. Not quite sure yet, historians are still trying to figure that one out.

Now is the time to take Brian's idea from the early 60s and rename them "Beach." Was it Brian's or Jack's? I thought it was Brian's, and he had written a crude note on a piece of paper and asked all the guys to sign it.
