Interesting. I’m sure a lot of artists would prefer bigger, guaranteed money, with a co-headliner to help drive ticket sales, in lieu of a possibly iffy (due to the pandemic) European tour. Easier logistics. Less hassle. Hopefully better ticket sales thanks to teaming with Chicago. Then again, daily deli does add up! Of course, I personally blame Mike Love. 😈 A lot of the venues, if not all of them are outdoor venues. Bri-ago!

Is it possible to buy tickets to Brian's show in Alpharetta, GA without owning a smart phone? When I checked the sales, it looked like they wanted to send the tickets to my phone and that won't work with my plain vanilla cell phone.

You could probably buy the tickets online, but get as inexpensive as possible, no-contract smart phone at Best Buy or some other store with cell phones for the month. They say “your phone is your ticket.” It is utter madness.

I think the phone discrimination may be an attempt to control ticket resales -- but it is still a form of discrimination (haves vs. have nots). I don't understand why they won't email the tickets. And forget about trying to contact a human being on the ticket sales site.
Since I can't replace my phone right now just to get tickets, I'll have to find a friend with a smart phone who wants to see this show too. But I'm still bummed about this.

To think I was upset because my venue chose to email my tickets instead of sending them to my phone so I could use my Apple Wallet. I guess I know why now. I was also lucky that the local box office answered the phone when I was having trouble using the presale code. I hope you get your tickets and that you get some great seats! Let us know.

Just a thought, but, as long as you don’t care about being really close, this seems like a pairing where you could wait for discount tickets. Most of the venues are large and outdoors.
For instance, the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ holds 7K in its covered portion, with other seating capacity up to 24K.
I can see tickets being offered via discount sites, such as Groupon or Goldstar, as the event gets closer.

Never thought of that - it is trying to control the marketplace. And, they are trying to get the private industry regulate what goes on in health because a lot of these edicts are unenforceable across state lines, who each can set their own policies. They are getting the private sector to enforce what they can’t enforce themselves, to do their dirty work, and the flow from that is that “favored” industry partners get exclusive deals, which disrupts the flow of trade. And has created another type of monopoly. Ticket agencies used to be on a more equal footing or level playing field and seemed to have access to all the same pool of tickets. So those who are economically (or not carrying a computer - in the form of a smart phone) or who by choice, or don’t have one, are foreclosed from the same ability to participate in the free market.

I was able to call the venue, and they told me to come to Will Call the day of the show and they will print the tickets out for me. The seats I got are not as close as I’d like, but the trade-off is more legroom. So, I’ve got my Brian and co. tix — yay!

Tickets for here are $380 a piece and most are already gone. The word SCAM comes to mind. I am thru with LiveNation. I hate those people. They are the ones that did the concert here were lots of people died because they short shifted on security. Sorry Brian. Much as I love you, not paying $400 to see you. I will live with my memories.

God, back in September 2000 I flew from Glasgow to LA to see BW’s orchestral Pet Sounds performance at the Hollywood Bowl. Worth every penny.
Now? I don’t know. The magic seems to have been sucked out of the prospect of a UK tour.
Covid would be a good reason for a tour cancellation – it’s still a frightening shadow across the globe – but it’s clearly not the real reason.
Some honesty from management would be very much appreciated.

If so, what for?

If anyone - even the blindest, dumbest, stupidest Brianista - thinks a tour of that length and logistical complexity could be organised from scratch and signed off in seven, eight days, well... I've got the deeds to this bridge, and I'll throw in that statue for free. It's simply not possible. The Chicago tour had to have been in the works since late summer/early fall. And now Mike & Bruce have announced some June European dates...

And now Mike & Bruce have announced some June European dates... Unless that is a typo, the cancellation was announced on the 19th, with the Chicago tour being announced a week and a half later. The band knew at least week before the cancellation announcement that they weren’t going to Europe next year. As for any “conspiracy theories” or any “dishonesty”, people seem to have forgotten that COVID-19 is still a thing, and that we still have a pandemic. 2 of the guys will be 80 next year (one of whom has had many health problems in recent years). It’s still a fairly risky proposition to be traveling overseas when many places still have restrictions or will be putting restrictions back in place thanks to Omicron. All things considered, isn’t it better to be safe than sorry and push it back another year? As for when the Chicago tour was finalized, I don’t know. But , and this is just a guess, the logistics, the organizing and the booking were all probably done by the Chicago camp well in advance. I am also guessing that Brian’s camp will be piggybacking off of Chicago. Brian will be playing venues on this tour that he hasn’t played in since the Paul Simon tour 20 years ago. As far as last minute cancellations from the venues and hotels (again, we still have a global pandemic) this is also risky, but it is less risky and less expensive than going overseas and having to deal with the same issues as well as having work visas being denied at the last minute. No one has had to deal with doing concert touring during a global pandemic. I am sure that BriMel has already been transparent enough about this situation. Safety and reality trump whatever conspiracy theories that have come up.

It is indeed a typo, thanks for spotting something I missed... but the fact is that even given the extra ten days, there's still no way the Chicago tour could have been concieved, organised and signed off in just over two weeks. As for the Covid explanation, well, it's not apparently bothering Mike.

As for the Covid explanation, well, it's not apparently bothering Mike. I never said the Chicago tour was thrown together at the last minute. At least not from the Chicago end. Chicago has traditionally done summer tours with a co-headlining act (i.e. Earth Wind & Fire, America, Huey Lewis). That template would have already been in place for them to set up their annual summer tour. There is no obvious evidence that BriMel postponed this tour just so they could make easy money with Chicago, which is the accusation here. As for Michael Edward, he was one of the first if not the first one out of the gate doing live shows in public. No pandemic was ever going to stop him.

What was the excuse used when Brian's camp cancelled the insane arena tour of a few years ago? Something about concentrating on the Academy Awards if my memory serves me correctly. The latest excuse is just about as plausible.

3rd time unlucky for BW in the UK. Pandemic years understandably have hit international travel and touring.
But I do feel rather like I've been dumped for someone richer. (Not younger or prettier, mind, just richer! )

The Chicago tour seems to be the real reason for the third time postponement of Brian's European tour. I wonder exactly when the Beach Boys' date at the RAH (the same date Brian was to have played there) was arranged? I wonder if that was signed off before Brian's people told us about the re-scheduling? Of course, the BBs couldn't book it until Brian had postponed but they could have known about the BBs booking before they'd announced the rescheduling.

OK, so people are upset that they are waiting to see a hits show that, in reality, most of you would skip because it is a hits show.
Got it.

Hi rjm, A strange assertion, constructed from different comments, then attributed to some generic "people", with a "Got it." clincher at the end there. Are you here to provoke? I hope I speak for most of us here in the UK that we are happy to go to BW shows, and happy to go to BBs shows, and enjoy both for what they are. Covid aside, and hoping that everyone stays safe, especially youth-challenged musicians (!), a 7-month lead time for 'postponement' (no alternative dates yet given) of a European tour, replaced by expensive shows in the US, is a bit whiffy, and so I can have a humorous grumble about it if I want.

Had I been prepared to skip the shows on account of them being hits shows, I wouldn't have cared. I bought top price tickets for three different shows back in March 2020 and now have to wait until 2023 with no guarantee the shows will happen at all. I understand why they have decided to postpone again but I don't like being lied to and I really just want my money back now. Of course who knows what the Covid situation will be in 2022 in the States, let alone in 2023 in Europe? America has hardly evaded the virus. In fact has a huge number of Covid cases.

No, you haven't: people are upset that Brian's people (note to those watching from Else Where: Brian's people, not Brian, who has nothing to do with scheduling his shows), having postponed a tour slated for next summer on a pretext that could charitably be described as "flimsy" - no-one knows what the Covid situation will be here, or anywhere, in seven months time - then almost immediately announce a US tour for essentially the same time period. You can forgive the fan in the street for detecting, rightly or not, a distinct aroma of kipper.

I was due to attend the Birmingham show. I've held off on getting a refund yet as I'm hoping it will be rescheduled at some point. What are other's thoughts. Should I just get a refund?

Wait. Brian will be 80, or very close, next year. If the shows are postponed again, or cancelled entirely, you'll get your money back then. I've not seen Brian since 2016, but if he comes over in '23, I'll be there, because I very much doubt he'll be back again.
