Three.... Ye gods, A. I'm reminded of that scene from The Deer Hunter. Well, this is where the famous jk die comes into play. I threw a three, a four and a two. The die said I could reveal the outcome. It also said I could change my vote. The die has spoken.

Forgive me if it seems cynical Al; it’s not meant as such. This is tactical voting taken to a surreal extreme. Think of it as obtuse sulking!

The very irritating "Lady Lynda" is my least favourite of the remaining songs, though "Good Timin'" is another song I never got the love for. It sounds a pale imitation of their past glories. "Baby Blue" is OK but I said before "Love Surrounds Me" and "Angel Come Home" are my two faves from this album.

At one time you could always rely on a Beach Boys album to kick off with a killer song, and sadly LA was the last time this would happen, so I'm keeping Good Timin'. Never fully understood the fascination some people have with Dennis' songs on this set, so I'm voting two of them off, keeping the more worthy Baby Blue and despatching Lady Lynda to the nether regions.

a different version of Baby Blue That's gorgeous, fdp. Many thanks! Makes you wonder whether that's Maureen on harp...

While that's a bit cynical of you, John, I for one do not disagree with your concluding statement - for example, someone has forgotten to cast their second and third votes, or two people have forgotten to cast their third votes right here on this very poll. What a shambles, a flaming mess. And that was just the beginning.

I'm going with most of the crowd in this grinder round. Was tough to leave "Angel Come Home" locked out, tho. I love "Baby Blue", and have to keep in "Good Timin'" for all the good times live. I should have been up front in 1979 for Dennis' "Angel Come Home", but he wasn't at the Berkeley shows in June... If you use the 1 March Radio City show set-list as a guide, it was "Shortenin' Bread" that replaced it.

Angel Come Home is a Carl song.

Welcome back thrill seekers. John Manning's post above really moved me, and as a result I've decided to introduce a Grind Round of sheer fanboy terror where you must eliminate 3 tracks in order to get us to the final 2, so we can be done with LA in time for my Sunday lunch ( I've already got a roast in the oven, you see). H'mmm... Do I smell burning? Pity Dennis isn't around to help you, A (see first section of illustrations in Gaines' book).

Angel Come Home is a Carl song. Of course it is, my bad, and thanks for reminding me. Should perhaps have said Dennis' contributions rather than songs

OK - last call for those who didn’t cast their full quota of 3 votes. There have been 21 voters so there should be 63 votes in the tikki thing. Yet there are only 59 4 votes are potentially enough to mess with placings before we head into the finale.

I dunno, A - perhaps you should stick to voting for one song at a time in future, even if it means limiting the allotted voting time per song. It's a shame, but it's evident some folks can't handle more than that. Great job you're doing, by the way.

I have to say that I find that Baby Blue, Angel Come Home and Love Surrounds Me all pretty much on the same level, though I'd probably opt for one of the DW songs if pushed. I like Good Timin' (perhaps because it's a little BB by numbers) and Lynda a little less (and Lynda, less than Good Timin').
To me, though, they're a good five songs and this kind of quality in this number wasn't to be seen again until Radio (and hadn't been seen since Love You...)

Good Timin’ may have been “a little BB by numbers”, but by 1979, there wasn’t very much of that “by the numbers” stuff being recorded since Sunflower. I remember hearing those beautiful vocals coming over the AM airwaves and thinking “Now, that sounds like The Beach Boys”.

I like the bvs on Sumahama for the same reason.

Ok, Baby Blue and Good Timin’ are the finalists!
As no-one has found the hidden immunity idol, I will open the poll for the finale of Survivor Label debuts - LA (Light Album)......
Vote for your favourite of the two songs listed!
