Earlier today, I discovered that Looking Back with Love is now available to stream on YouTube and Spotify. Seems to be in much better quality than my rip as well. Nice to see this underrated album get a bit more recognition! Very interesting to have this happen just out of the blue, but I'll take it nonetheless!

Bought that album the day it came out, in Sacramento, so always had a bit of a soft spot for it.
Edit: ah... not on Spotify in the UK.

Pretty nice to have this album on streaming, always been quite a fun album for me. Hopefully we’ll get a physical reissue someday I'd like to see that. To my knowledge, this is the only album by the Boys or one of the five members to have never been officially released on CD.

I read that the Spotify version was uploaded incorrectly, swapping L-R channels. No clue if this is fact.

Has anyone found LBWL for purchase, as opposed to streaming? Out of curiosity, I looked at the iTunes store -- they have his most recent releases, plus albums by two other artists named Mike Love (one reggae, one country), but no LBWL.

There are several sealed LPs on ebay for about $10 plus shipping.

In all seriousness, I hope that one of the results of the new deal with Iconic is better curation of the Beach Boys material on streaming sites. For years now, the Hawthorne, CA album on Spotify has been scrambled so that the disc one streams play the disc two tracks, and vice versa. Besides the obvious inconvenience, I imagine this could also have serious repercussions regarding royalty payouts.
Personally, I've contacted Spotify more than once about this issue but it never gets fixed. I have no idea if anyone in the Beach Boys camp is even aware of the problem, though I assume they'd get it resolved if they did.
Anyway, if you're listening Iconic, please fix this asap!
(And please put the Good Vibrations & Pet Sounds Sessions box sets back on Spotify too!)

But not on Amazon in the US, at least not to purchase. (Not sure about their streaming, since I don't use it.)

There are several sealed LPs on ebay for about $10 plus shipping. Amazon USA also has it for $9.50 if you want to settle for Mp3. I have the vinyl from original release, so will stick with that. To me, vinyl sounds a whole lot better than Mp3. And, if they did swap the channels around - better to get the vinyl for that reason. It's a good album. I like some of the less treasured (to some) tracks like "On And On And On" and "Rockin' the Man In the Boat" a lot. The title track, weak lyrics and all, is a groove. Played that a bunch last Summer. Definitely a Summer- type record.

Bought the vinyl the year it came out, and also have it on Mp3 but rarely play either. I will say this, though. If you don't have the record or haven't listened to it, "Rockin' the Man In the Boat".........I mean, just the title alone is worth consideration.

A fine album.. Curiously, Mike is not showcased as a songwriter and his expressive range as a singer is underrepresented. And yet, somehow, the album aged nicely and is still very enjoyable.

It also annoys me that there’s absolutely no consistency between streaming services. Spotify and YouTube both appear to have all of the 2000 masters. Meanwhile, Apple Music has the 2015 masters, and it also has the good vibrations and pet sounds sessions boxes, which Spotify doesn’t. I wish there was some consistency.

I actually contacted Spotify about the Hawthorne mix-ups as well. They asked me to clarify exactly which tracks were mislabeled. I did & they said that they would correct. That was six months ago. It still bugs me that the stereo Heroes & Villains is mixed up with the Surfin’ USA demo on my playlist. Lol.

It's on Tidal as well, but I haven't listened to the Tidal edition at this point - and I haven't planned to crank it at any point.
Rainy weather predicted next Sunday, might fire it up then.

So is this an official release or a grey area product? Anybody been in contact with Mike's team? I wonder if he or his wife and team had any idea of this coming out.

I read that the Spotify version was uploaded incorrectly, swapping L-R channels. No clue if this is fact. Somebody crossed their cables while doing a needle drop. And people still complain about the state of the Beatles' catalog.
