To make lockdown go even slower, The Guardian is running a countdown of the 100 top UK No. 1s since 1952. And taking 6 weeks to do it. If interested: www.theguardian.com/music/2020/apr/27/the-100-greatest-uk-no-1sWe can but be patient and see if GV makes the list. (Not thinking that DIA would be there.) Today's 10, to see if it might be your kind of thing. (spoiler alert!)

Thanks, pw. The bottom ten has some great songs in it, including two of my all-time favourites (at #93 and #97). "GV" will make the list or I'll eat my keyboard.

Same goes for Royals by Lorde. I actually forgot that song even existed until I saw this list.

Possibly what you might call... 'clickbait' At the end of the day, that's what these lists are all about. But, there's probably also some recency bias as well.

Update, if you're not following. I feel old. Recency bias indeed. But some of the comments are amusing and it's all a bit of a lark. #86, link below, producer Joe Meek accused of ripping off Phil Spector, apparently ;-)
90 Justin Bieber – What Do You Mean? (2015) 89 Sugababes – Freak Like Me (2002) 88 Craig David – 7 Days (2000) 87 Adamski – Killer (feat Seal) (1990) 86 The Tornados – Telstar (1962) 85 Estelle – American Boy (feat Kanye West) (2008) 84 Gloria Gaynor – I Will Survive (1979) 83 Cher – Believe (1998) 82 Robyn – With Every Heartbeat (feat Kleerup) (2007) 81 Elton John – Are You Ready for Love? (2003)

Is this the one you mean? It's different mix, going by ears, sing songs differently. Besides, Beatles medley ain't mixed with various artists mash-up. Here's precise sequence/singing I been familiar since 2000s, B-Side (immeduate mash-up starts 2:00): Tracklist Side B: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Play_AlbumStars On 45 still popular thru radio here, been huuuge in Soviet Union. They sing with impressive various people's singing imitation. Beatles medley's jolly cool, few songs even better than Beatles, the guys really studied well Paul, John, George's voices, backing tracks, nearly pitch perfect. It's quality material, medleys this band did. Check it folks. In the link, especially enjoy "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again" (brilliant song with cool lead) segueing towards cutesy catchy Brian Hyland ditty.

I think it's fun, pendlewitch, to discuss songs listed in the list. It gives things to chat about. Chatty by nature, really like discussing various songs, especially familiar. You too join the listening & discussing party, gal. 🥳 ✊

Isn't that enough? Don't forget BBF. (I don't know where Andrew went.) I really like #72, #75, #77, #78 and #79 so this glut is the best so far.

72 Rage Against the Machine – Killing in the Name (2009)
2009? Huh, apparently it peaked at #25 in 1993, but was resurrected by a social networking campaign to break an X Factor streak.

Warming up a bit. The rankings fairly arbitrary by this point This is the last set until Monday. 70 Rui Da Silva – Touch Me (feat Cassandra) (2001) 69 Snap! – Rhythm Is a Dancer (1992) 68 Dexys Midnight Runners – Come on Eileen (1982) 67 Black Box – Ride on Time (1989) 66 Eminem – Stan (feat Dido) (2000) 65 Kraftwerk – The Model (1982) 64 Nena – 99 Red Balloons (1984) 63 Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel – Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me) (1975) 62 Elvis Presley – Jailhouse Rock (1958) 61 Arctic Monkeys – I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor (2005) My real-time faves off here - #63 and #65, but happy with a few others too. Obviously an Elvis classic, but his highest spot in this 100 since the "rules" are one entry per artist. errr...

More to the point, what have you done with "Good Vibrations", pw?

There can't be many 45s with inverted commas and a question mark in the title, let alone a UK #1. #49 illustrates the Chemicals' fascination (obsession, even) with "Tomorrow Never Knows"...
