You know, this will be worth tuning in for, and if you're a shut-in, there's no excuse not to. Just watching/hearing him play 'Sail On Sailor' is worth the price of admission alone (free). He's very good. Gotta be good to be a Beach Boy! And if he does 'Wipe Out', that'll be a biiiiig bonus!

Mikie, I'n not sure if an FB account is required to watch. I'll be watching it on my hubby's account.
I do know that the video will be archived for later viewing.

Yeah, I think Filledeplage was wondering about that - I'm on Facebook anyway, so not an issue for me. Fille, do you not have a Facebook account? Like Emdeeh says, you'll be able to watch it later anyway.

Fille -- unfortunately it looks like you can't get to Billy's FB without being logged in.

I am going to try to tune in, 9PM CST. We are on statewide “stay at home” order starting tomorrow. I'm in healthcare, so I'm still working, but I am staying inside as much as possible when I am not at work.

Why Billy didn't share full youtube vid? He should do it instead just giving short trailer clip. Doesn't make sense. There's many full BBs gigs shared in youtube anyway.

Billy's not active on YouTube right now -- technical difficulties.

Well, that was fun while it lasted. Unfortunately you had to sit through continuous video skipping and freezing and fuzziness, but in between we got a couple of Dino, Desi, and Billy songs and a couple of Beach Boys songs while playing his acoustic guitar and keyboard. Nice stories too. Billy was a witness at a party when Dennis sat down with Billy Preston to write "You Are So Beautiful". Talked about the Sunset Strip and hanging with Rock stars. Carl use to bring over new Beach Boys acetates to play on Billy's nice stereo system. Didn't know Carl was thinking about Annie while singing God Only Knows. The whole time, recognizable names from the Beach Boys world scrolled by; people saying hello to Billy. Then, while Billy knocked one back, the video suddenly froze and that was it!

I agree - it was fun. Saw some familiar names scroll by in the comment section as well. It buffered & froze here & there, & I think I had a lag of a couple minutes. Loved hearing the songs & those great little stories though!

Perhaps you didn't get the point which is if people share 60s-80s BBs shows in youtube for everybody to see freely (you really luurve watching that stuff, btw), surely it's easy for Billy to share the "On The Road With Beach Boys". They're same thing. That way every fan can see it, isn't it, like, the ideal?

They're same thing. That way every fan can see it, isn't it, like, the ideal? No, they are not. The shows on YouTube are in the main shot on a home video camera, or grabbed off TV video tapes and uploaded with no further processing. Billy's DVD involved him in investing time, effort and money into its creation. Not the same at all.

Billy ain't making near the amount of money that he was as a backup musician for the Beach Boys. The BB Friends & Family group came and went quickly. And since his heart condition, it's prevented him from going out on the road with Brian and his band. So to help pay the bills, he sells product from his website and does a few gigs here and there. The trailer on Youtube is a video clip (or an extracted sample) from the product, used to promote the product. If his copyrighted product "On The Road With The Beach Boys '74" was posted on Youtube in its entirety, fans would be less inclined to buy the DVD video from him. Thus, the promo trailer on Youtube.

Many thanks to littlesurfer (posted in the Al Jardine live thread) for this tip on watching public vids on Facebook for those of us without accounts. Use this direct link and ignore the sign-up/sign-in notice. The vid will play -- I've tested it. www.facebook.com/billy.hinsche/videos/4207798039246457/

This video went on longer than I thought. The other night it froze at 35 minutes, but it turns out there was another four minutes left. I missed his song "Positivity". What a nice guy Billy is.
