Can't say I'm a fan, but I was looking at the disco thread on Hoffman. Kinda sad that people can't just live and let live. The way some of them go on about it, it's like their masculinity feels threatened. Sad indeed. You'd think folks at Hoffman would be more enlightened. OSD posts there. You were saying ?

Back to the music. This epic cut by Dan Hartman vies with Donna Summer's marathon disco tracks for sheer electricity. After the introductory instrumental "Vertigo" Hartman launches into the anthemic "Relight My Fire", in which he is later joined by Loleatta Holloway, who in a just world would have been a household name by now. At least we have this spine-tingling performance of hers to lift our spirits. Three great talents no longer with us — R.I.P. all.

My goodness, it's been eight months since the last post in this thread... In the summer of 1979, when I rediscovered BBC Radio One after having lost touch with UK pop since my move to NL, one of the acts that was getting a lot of airplay was Shalamar. "I Can Make You Feel Good" was the one I remember best. Good times: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shalamar

More disco bliss. I believe Will Smith sampled this. "And The Beat Goes On" is such a colourful track, with synth, bass, guitar, strings and vocals vying for attention: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Whispers

I thought something was missing from this topic -- this is the full-length, album version of the disco take on "HCTN". And very tasty it is too. As is so often the case with great disco, the bass, here courtesy of Ron Brown, ultimately carries the day!
