15 years ago I heard those exact same jokes on that exact same song, with John Stamos on the drums at Alhambra High School here in (next to) Los angeles. So nothing new here unless you're saying that John was somehow high on drugs?
Uncle Jesse people were shouting, and I don't know what that means, but I assume it's a character that he had played in a television program.

Still puzzled: the official BB site only lists one show at Biloxi, on October 6th... yet literally everywhere else on the 'net, including the venue itself, says there's another show on the 7th. Confused, Farnham.

Christian Love just gave a very fasinating. I'll attatch the link and my thoughts.
soundcloud.com/user-93394161/christian-love-talks-solo-album-and-working-with-dad
That was definitely a very interesting and revealing interview! - I can recall hearing Scott's voice sounding like what Christian describes. It wasn't hard to tell that he's been struggling to hit and sustain notes he used to effortlessly. Makes sense he'd give it a break and rest his voice after all of these years. He probably wants to keep his singing voice in tact for the rest of his career, given how helpful it can be being a singing guitarist in the touring musician industry. Happy to hear Christian say that his dad loves Scott.
- It's definitely interesting to hear Cowsill described as "nice individual and challenging individual as well". I guess I'll reserve getting into that since I'm sure there are many people on this board that call him a friend. Seems like Scott's leaving wasn't personal, but maybe Cowsill's was.
- I loved hearing about Christian's journey as a musician. From playing bass, to Randell teaching him how to play guitar, and him joining The Beach Boys, to the present day where he's producing and arranging his own material. He seems extremely passionate about music. Perhaps even more so than you'd notice from observing his stage presence.
- I love hearing Christian confirm that he's thought about leading the/a Beach Boys band when his father retires, and that there was some acknowledgment of Matt Jardine and Stamos playing with the group if I recall correctly. I would be very happy to continue to see a Christian Love led Beach Boys for as long as he'd continue the legacy his father helped create.
- This stood out to me more than anything: his extremely brief answers reminded me SO MUCH of Brian, and his soft spoken, polite nature, of not wanting to say anything bad about anyone, and his insistence on 'not picking sides' and not letting his Dad's issues be his issues. When he said that, in that voice that sounds so similar to Carl, it makes it seem like he not only inherited Carl's vocal parts, but perhaps his kind and peace keeping nature. And like I said, the brief and sometimes deadpan responses remind me so much of Brian. And that also makes me think about his stage presence. A lot of people say he looks bored or disinterested- the same accusations Brian Wilson has gotten for decades. And we know how passionate Brian is about music. Sometimes that passion just doesn't translate to someone's facial expression or body language. I think Christian inherited BW's 'stoic vibe' if that makes sense.
- Makes sense, but was sad to hear he's never had a conversation with Brian. Also makes sense that as a young boy he was afraid of Dennis, who by this point was likely often intoxicated or lashing out around family. I'm happy to hear he has a friendly relationship with Al, and a fruitful working relationship with Bruce. And it sounds like playing in the band has made him closer to his dad than ever.
Oddly enough, despite some of his answers leaving me wanting more detail, I have to say that this was one of the most moving and insightful interviews I've heard in a long, long time. Christian's love for his dad and for music really shined through. The interview was an hour, but flew by for me. The hosts did a terrific job asking the right questions while letting Christian speak for himself. I'm sure I'll give this another listen because I learned a lot!

Ahh, yes, the same festival where Al's band was listed as "The Beach Boys," which led to all kinds of court cases.....

Apologies for not keeping up date with this list, but I've been without internet at home for the last ten days, and I wasn't about to haul the laptop to the local library! Normal service will be resumed once I work out what normal is.

Another new date for Mike and Bruce: July 4 -- Rotary Green (next to Elk Grove High School) -- Elk Grove Village, IL Sometimes they really make me scratch my head. This year, three nights at the Hollywood Bowl over 4th of July, and next is Rotary Park next to the Highschool in Elk Grove Village IL . In any event, if you get the opportunity to see M&B, don't hesitate. I saw them last night and they were exceptional. The subtle changes Ike has made has really invigorated the band. This was my 5th show in the last 12 months and was easily the best of the 5....And that is at the end of a very busy touring year. Looking forward to next.

How lucky we are that they play everywhere to everyone! Professionals are always more valuable than snobs. The DAR is celebrating America’s 250th, and has partnered with the Semiquincentennial Commission to celebrate those who have contributed to different eras of the American Story. A search of our records indicates that The Beach Boys have not performed for us since the 1980’s, long before we spent millions in renovations. We have over 200,000 active paid current members, and over 17,000 pending supplemental applications. Committee members are highly encouraged to organize celebrations and events in the lead up to 2026. We can provide them an audience larger than both Live Aid shows combined. We hosted our Congress digitally during the lockdowns to great success. While we can only seat 3,702 in person, which is just 1.85% of our membership, we already have the system in place to make it accessible to a much larger audience. We have over 3,000 chapters in 12 countries. We sell out every year. Our donation pins run $100 to $250,000, and there are plenty of us out of room on our 5-quint ribbons! All we have to do is pay the men, offer some exclusive pins, tack on a mandatory viewing requirement, and we could raise tens of millions for charitable causes while America’s Band gets the audience and recognition they deserve.

I'm referring to changes Ike made as Musical Director, not necessarily himself individually. For me (a non musician) the changes I notice are that the songs have more "punch" to them. Heavier guitar and drums. They seem to rock out a bit more than both the records and the previous live show. To my ears anyways. Bolton's energy is off the charts, and while it can be a bit much for my taste at times, most of the crowd eats it up and loves it.

Don't always follow this thread but are our guys taking a four/five month break? Or do they have a four/five month residency booked on a multi-billionnaire's private island retreat?
What's the longest period they've taken off the road since 1961?

In 1976 their first gig was July 2nd, the previous one being on December 17th 1975: 6 months and 17 days. In 1977, they didn't play a show between January 21st and July 30th, or 6 months and 9 days. If you include the lockdowns, they didn't play a live show from March 7th to July 30th 2020.

I suppose the difference these days is that they’re (as far as we know) not now actively recording new material, which they were back in the 1970s.
