I don't mind the Americana style graphics. They've actually been using them for years now here and there. This I think is just the first time it's been made the official tour logo. But definitely not the first time I've seen it. I think they've used that 'rustic patriotic' graphic for double billings with America and/or Alabama before (Can't totally remember) I'm definitely 100% sure I've seen those graphics before this touring cycle.
I too was surprised to hear the story of Stamos' involvement in band member hiring (and firing?). I was surprised but not upset.
This might be a controversial statement that I'll get flack for, but if he's transitioned into having some kind of managerial or business role I wouldn't oppose it. I think he's earned his stripes. He's been playing with the band since the 80's. So when you think about it, he's been playing with the band as long as Eddie Carter or Bobby F did. And despite the blunder that was American Family, I think it's safe to say that both him and Mike have matured somewhat since then in how they portray Brian and sensitive subjects. I think Stamos has showed his love for the band over and over again. I think it's no coincidence that they perform at any/every TV special he hosts. Knowing what a die hard fan he is, I wouldn't be surprised if, behind closed doors, he pushes very hard for them to get performance opportunities with his TV/Media connections.
If he 'discovered' Bolt, I gotta give credit where credit's due. Having Bolt in the band is a win for The BBs. Cowsill was LOVELY and will ALWAYS be missed. But Bolt injects soooo much energy, and I have to say, under Brian E & Keith's direction, they have taken a more "rock" approach a la 1980, where the drums are hard and fast, the guitars are blaring, and the keyboards have more freedom to riff. I can't remember the last time it looked like The Beach Boys were having this much fun onstage. There is so much enthusiasm at these shows right now. John W is reserved in his mannerisms, but has excellent guitar skills, and Bolt's drumming is just phenomenal. And his joy is infectious. I've seen some clips where Mike is sounding pretty much as good as he did during C50. Othertimes he's a bit pitchy, but he's still Mike F*cking Love, and has a one of a kind legendary aura. Bruce still rocks the house. He's the most engaging member of the band. He always gets everyone dancing and clapping. He loves the music. The band is in great form right now in my opinion. They're rocking. They're tight. And they're having Fun Fun Fun.
So I heard on the Al thread that he said "they" are going to be filming a performance on the beach location of their famous 60's photoshoots. For the documentary. I wonder who all this performance will include. Will we see a 'merging of the bands' like we did for C50? Or Will Al (+ Brian? + Dave?) just join Mike's BeachBoys band.

Actually, i find Bruce kind of embarrassing, clapping and singing backup and not really playing his keyboard. And why does it have to be "Mike F***ing Love". Sorry, I'm just a little tired of people throwing an f-bomb into everything these days.

I believe he delivers a truly heartfelt performance on "Disney Girls." My wife leans more towards tolerating the Beach Boys than being a dedicated fan, but after the show, that particular song emerged as her absolute favorite. Overall, she found Bruce's demeanor utterly endearing and his stage presence infused the performance with a fantastic energy. Personally, I liked his bridge on Surfer Girl. He was filling in for Brian about 50-60 years ago and still is. Amazing.
Considering the range of talents I've witnessed from him at 82, I'm not sure anyone should expect me to match his level of accomplishment in *anything* when I reach that age!

Especially since Brian taught it to his kids and everyone else doing a BB music intro to babies does exactly the same song. It is not high-minded music art but still rocks out, and is still fun, even today.

Basically they're a tribute band with one and a half original members. I would go and see ANY Beach Boys tribute band with a musical quality that good if they played my town. Even without original members! Bruce is a 1/2 person, now? He has been a Beach Boy for 51 years. That's longer than Dennis and Carl. Some respect for the man, please. Also, there is no 1/2 original. There are two Beach Boys; one original and one not. That's it, Bruce has been a Beach Boy for so long that back in the city I'm taking him for half an original member, but a full person.

Even without original members! If no original BB Members, I would go, but the ticket prices would have to be much cheaper than current prices. The prices should be lower without M+B, true, but that band does give you your money's worth anyway. They're really great.

If there were no original members I would pick up my guitar start with a D chord, sing Surfer Girl in my own living room, poorly perhaps without the right chord changes, but that would be the sum total of the Beach Boys for me. Plus listening to the records all the time.

I had planned to go, but the cost of tickets ($40 is not bad) plus parking ($20) plus concessions (another $20) was too much for someone who's supposed to be on a low budget (what did you say?). I really don't know that area; when they do the Puyallup Fair, I know that neighborhood, I know where I can park for free, and I enjoy the fair experience. If I hadn't seen the group 3 times in the past 5 years, I would have gone. If the setlist had some surprises (like it did in 2021), I would have gone. Of course, a little voice in my head says "this might have been your last time to see them". When singers are in their 80's, you never know. The band America just announced their retirement, and those guys are a good 10 years younger than Mike and Bruce.

I saw them less than 2 weeks ago and there was no mention of that. Their show this past Sunday in LA was their last of the year but I've heard nothing regarding a retirement.

Another recent concert, August 27th:
Video is the entire show.
They did Still Cruisin’ in the first set. Then Warmth Of The Sun, Sail On Sailor & Wild Honey (John Bolton on lead vocals) at the 1:24.30 mark.
Just FYI.

I think the combination of Scott and John really helped bring Mike’s touring Beach Boys back to respectability: for me, their addition almost leveled the playing field with Brian’s killer band. For that alone I will be eternally grateful. They are both stellar musicians, and great people. That being said, I really do like the energy that Jon Bolton is bringing. He is a really fun musician to watch. You can definitely see why there was a bit of buzz about this guy.

These recent setlists have been awesome!! Very special.
Bolt is a star. He’s a wonderful singer and drummer.
I think Mike and Bruce have looked and sounded great as of late! I’m amazed that they’re still able to continue at this pace! Nothing short of a miracle for fans.

I recently attended the concert in Doswell VA Thursday night. I am a long time fan of the group and although I was disappointed that Scott and John have left the group, I was eager to see and hear Jon Bolton and John Wedemeyer. This version of the group really rocks! My only issue I have was the sound mix was a bit muddy, too much bottom end and not enough definition between the vocals and instruments. As far as the venue, when you pay top dollar for the “Platinum Seat” experience, the seating should not be beyond the view of the stage. The venue had third row seats in front of the main speakers and further down from the stage. So in essence, you are seeing the show from an angle and not necessarily a good view for the money you spent. Overall, the concert was great, the musicians were solid, John Wedemeyer plays great lead guitar and solos with authority and Jon Bolton is a very entertaining drummer and sings well. Hats off to Mike Love and company for Keeping the Summer Alive!

Photos and clips that are coming out from The BBs performance at SeaHearNow look incredible!!
That crowd was huge!!! And going nuts for the band!!
Timmy has got some great pics on his Instagram. Looks like it was an awesome show.
Also, for the shows in Lancaster a few days ago, Surf City made a return to the setlist. I really really hope it stays! I think playing Brian's first #1, and simultaneously giving a nod to their friends and band who inspired them in their early days, Jan & Dean, is very appropriate for a BBs concert. Bolt's drumming is perfect for a such an uptempo song like Surf City. Love hearing Brian E & Bruce on those falsetto parts too! I hope Jan Berry was smiling from heaven. Though, knowing Jan, he'd probably have some notes on how his arrangement should be played hahaha.
