I've seen Mike and Bruce before but that was over ten years ago and I just bought a ticket for the Greek Theater. I did so under the assumption that something dramatic and Musical and interesting was going to happen and in the hope that maybe there could be some spontaneous appearance by another beach boy at that show since it's a HomeTown show.Given that Brian & Co. are playing a Canadian festival July 5th-7th (exact date TBA), I'd say your assumption could well be misplaced. But these are The Beach Boys, so who knows ?

Yes I should have been more clear about separating the Assumption and the hope. The assumption is that something dramatic will occur and the hope is that someone else will appear. I'm hoping that Dave could appear if Mike invites him. I don't think Dave has any other dates that week. And I guess Alan is playing with Brian that weekend? But you never know when you might just see Mike bring Dave up on stage. As for the Assumption about somethingdramatic. I don't think I've given this band enough credit for what they can pull off in terms of deep cuts and recreating important songs, so I'm going to be open-minded and enjoy the show that I see before me rather than Imagining the show I would want. And that has never been easy for me. quote author=" AGD" source="/post/54245/thread" timestamp="1654930898"] I've seen Mike and Bruce before but that was over ten years ago and I just bought a ticket for the Greek Theater. The BBs are now in Europe!
This morning I'm listening to SOS 60 as warm up - see some of you on Friday (anonymously!).
(Anyone going to Margate? )
And also, the RAH have opened up most of the complete boxes to individual tickets now, so that's nice if you haven't got a ticket yet but want a nice view of...

Here’s hoping you old worlders get some epic sets to truly celebrate the sixty years of the sounds of summer.

New July date on the European tour:
12 - Dolder Grand, Zurich, Switzerland
... and the 7/10 Dusseldorf show has been cancelled. I think the 6/18 Lillestrom one was as well...

Just returned from Huskvarna and my first Mike & Bruce show and what a pleasant surprise it was! The band was tight af (as the kids say) and while the set list offered no real surprises what other band can play hit after hit after hit for almost two hours?
Scott Totten is really badass without being showy, Brian Eichenberger’s falsetto is a thing of beauty, John Cowsill’s Animal antics and energy lifts the entire band and Bruce is a fun and harmless little chihuahua who probably should brush up on his microphone technique. Mike was in pretty good form, sometimes straining for a few high notes but was mostly on key. He mentioned his Swedish heritage and spoke a few lines of Swedish, much to the delight of the audience. An easy but effective trick.
It was an awesome FUN show. No crows crying or cornfields getting uncovered, but sometimes you just want to stomp your feet, clap your hands and have a real good time and I had a REAL good time. Fantastic!

So tonight's the Royal Albert Hall concert. I've had the unique opportunity to attend a BB-concert there many years ago - a very memorable one. Unfortunately I can't go to this one. But I'll be in 013 Tilburg on Sunday.
To anyone who is going to London this evening: enjoy !!! (and it must be a relief that there's no rail strikes in the London area today...)

The strike kicks in at midnight, and services are run down leading up to it. Not convinced I can make it back.

Made an executive decision not to go: I'm way too old to camp out at Waterloo for eight hours, and even then there's no direct train home. First world problems.

Life happens. I have a roof over my head, a job, food on my plate and no Russian tanks in the street outside. Next year.

A thing or two: The Beach Boys recent debut at the Grand Ole Opry is available here (as part of the entire May 27th broadcast). The band comes on around the 1 hour, 33 minute mark: wsmradio.com/archives/grand-ole-opry/Also, I don’t do Facebook, but the recap video of the 2022 Beach Boys Cruise seems to have a recent touring band version of Good Vibrations on it. Sounds good. Maybe someone more familiar with Facebook could post the video here. m.facebook.com/thebeachboyscruise/posts/
