Life happens. I have a roof over my head, a job, food on my plate and no Russian tanks in the street outside. Next year. Where do you live? I'll send one over pronto...

Royal Albert Hall, 24 June 2022: I'd say a grand night out was had by all, from what I could see!
A couple of pics and my very first upload (haha!):
Joined by John Stamos, and what would they do without Ike? Mike was great at being Mike, Bruce sang pretty well, and the band gave it some welly from 8 until nearly 11 (intermission involved - the crowd is ageing, you know!)
(Mike was vertical in my folder.)
Sorry AGD didn't make it. We got a train out of Kings X after midnight, packed and took forever. Was like the last train out of Dodge. Got a bit of a headache now.

Just returned from Huskvarna and my first Mike & Bruce show and what a pleasant surprise it was! The band was tight af (as the kids say) and while the set list offered no real surprises what other band can play hit after hit after hit for almost two hours? Scott Totten is really badass without being showy, Brian Eichenberger’s falsetto is a thing of beauty, John Cowsill’s Animal antics and energy lifts the entire band and Bruce is a fun and harmless little chihuahua who probably should brush up on his microphone technique. Mike was in pretty good form, sometimes straining for a few high notes but was mostly on key. He mentioned his Swedish heritage and spoke a few lines of Swedish, much to the delight of the audience. An easy but effective trick. It was an awesome FUN show. No crows crying or cornfields getting uncovered, but sometimes you just want to stomp your feet, clap your hands and have a real good time and I had a REAL good time. Fantastic! Haha, that's lovely! As the ex-owner of a chihuahua I can understand where you're coming from. Know the feeling about a Mike and Bruce show. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

Nice work, pw. I remember my one encounter with M&B as being a grand night out too. (Gosh darn trains. ) PS: Mike stands up pretty sharpish when you click on him.

Looking at that set - I had to book tickets for the show at The Lied Center on September 26. Hopefully Mike sings All I Wanna Do at that one. He didn’t when I saw them in February. Why not see them Mike twice and Brian once in six months time. The Beach Boys show at The T-Mobile Center was great!

Well it's about 5 weeks from now that I'll see the Beach Boys at the Greek. Obviously Brian and Al are somewhere else that day but I wonder if Michael just call up Dave and tell him to join the band that day. Seems ridiculous the dave would be hanging out somewhere at home in Southern California while an entity called The Beach Boys is playing show in his hometown. I know it's politics and planning and Logistics and rehearsal and all that stuff but would really love to see three Beach Boys on stage especially Dave here

I could be disappointed not seeing it... Understatement there, Andrew. What a great show! Nice song selection, as well. Brian E. was great. And how does Cowsill sing so well while playing the drums? Also, a very nice God Only Knows from Christian. Sometimes you can close your eyes and hear him channel Carl. Those lucky Londoners! :}

Does anybody know what Bruce is really doing on keyboards during all those Beach Boys songs? Is he prominent in the mix?

In other words, Bruce contributes about as much as Brian does on the current Brian Wilson / Chicago tour, and yet Brian is being chastised for not contributing, whereas Bruce has made a career of it.

I'm not the biggest Bruce guy, but the concert isn't being billed as "Bruce Johnston." Bruce could definitely sing and play keyboards more, but he's also not sitting lifeless at a piano and struggling to finish lines. I wish Mike's group didn't play Mike Love solo songs, and there's absolutely some magic to seeing Brian, Al and Blondie on stage (I did see them in October, and it was great!), but this summer I am going to see Mike and I passed on seeing Brian. There's actually a competition as to which group is better at this point, which would have been a laughable notion 15 years ago.

I'm sure he is really singing, though. I'm just not good at picking his voice out in the mix. And it's not being billed as a Bruce Johnston concert. It's the Beach Boys, and he is one of the members. Will there come a day when we see a BB's concert with Mike just sitting on a stool, watching/listening to the others singing and playing?

Good points to my post, which was actually sarcastic. The truth is, Mike Love is the only original Beach Boys lead vocalist remaining in the touring band, and Bruce hardly contributed any lead vocals to the band - except for his own songs. My feeling is that, although Mike Love has a contract to tour under The Beach Boys name, Brian's band with Al Jardine is even more The Beach Boys than Mike's band. I wonder if Brian would have licensed The Beach Boys name exclusively to Mike Love for touring if Brian had realized that he, himself would be touring for the last 22 years. The bottom line is, without either Brian Wilson or Mike Love participating and singing lead vocals, it's only a Beach Boys tribute.

I believe both are there to lend legitimacy to the band with Al to act as a master of ceremonies. Brian is no showman and it shows. 😉
