I don’t see it on the list but a friend played me "Clangin'" and that certainly takes the cake. Truly one of Brian's best works :') Seriously ? It's likable enough but I can think of maybe 100 better songs.

When something takes the cake, it usually means an 'outrageous example of something bad'.

I'd give up most of my CD collection for the chance to hear "Clangin". It's one of the unbooted/uncirculated Beach Boys recordings I want to hear the most, along with the mythical demo of California Feelin' with Brian singing the entire song in his "young/classic" high voice, if it even exists.

I'm assuming "Thank Him (For Our Love)" has never been released officially. It's not on hal's list but it would be my choice (without taking the cake). Utterly heart-rending:
I posted it as a BW solo song elsewhere and was roundly castigated for my troubles!

Oh, no! A thread I hadn't seen before, and now I have to track down most of these songs to listen to them. Along with refreshing my ears with the BW albums for the new Survivor. It's like having HOMEWORK!!

From what I've gathered, the quality is not really an improvement from bootlegged one, and the comp has been taken down recently in a lot of sites. I've never got to listen to it, because the comp was, uh, never released in my region

By the way, I see that the poll is locked, but I can reopen it if people want to vote on it, and steamb551 is okay with it.

I picked "Life Is For the Living" and "Deep Purple" - which I felt wouldn't get a vote otherwise. "Deep Purple" is a big favorite of mine. I think Brian's vocal is soul in action!
All of the Adult/Child tracks need to be released. Please, Alan and Mark! Now. The demo for "Awake", too. I could pick ten, and still want more. Love 'Short Skirts". How
does that keep missing the cut.

I would love to do a ‘survivor’ type poll with unreleased beach boys tracks. There are so many gems out there.
My all time favorite is probably Soulful Old Man Sunshine. I also really enjoy All Dressed Up For School, California Feelin, Our Team, We’re Together Again, Sherry She Needs Me, You’re Still a Mystery, and a few of the adult child takes. Oh my, there are so many great ones. I would start a poll myself but my knowledge of such tunes is lacking.

I picked Carry Me Home & It’s Trying To Say, both are great tracks. It’s Trying To Say is IMO the best track on Adult/Child alongside It’s Over Now, and Carry Me Home has been unreleased for so long that it should be a crime If I could choose a third track it’d be Looking Down The Coast/Monterey. Great tracks with great vocals by Al and a nice opening vocal from Brian.
