Boy, that was a long one!. Told me more about Leon than I had ever known before.
Loved the line, "emerged from the tangle of love and theft at the root of American popular culture..." - the tale of Folk music through time.
Then the writer touches on the "Lovesick Blues" controversy. So many book writers put their own spin on those old stories. My bet is that Hank first heard the one from 1939 by Rex Griffin. Then investigated the Emmitt Miller version, maybe. Which one was the true inspiration. You decide.
