I always thought it was Brian all the way on that.

I think you've mentioned this elsewhere Salty, but it sounds like classic gruff-voiced Dennis walks in the studio to join brian for that last chorus of LL, but you think its someone else?...

Got some good and some bad news....
Good: I found Ricky’s address in Vreeland.
Bad: the house was demolished in 2011...
More to follow soon (working on my iPad, but I’ve got the pictures on my PC)

Once one has a picture, an address can be found quickly... but I had some luck along the way. It started with an article in a Dutch magazine called Televizier from July 1972. There's a 3 page story of the BB in The Netherlands, including interviews with Marilyn, Carl, Blondie and Ricky. The journalist were able to make a roundtrip through the area with a list of addresses. They also went to Bloemendaal, but Mike wasn't present, and Al isn't even mentioned. But anyway, the article contains pictures of Marilyn with Carnie and Wendy, Carl/Annie/Jonah/Justin, Blondie, and Ricky & Paulette in their homes. Plus one pictures of Ricky and Paulette outside their house enjoying the view. And a view it is...
We can only see the front of the house, but it shows the house's name: Wyde Blik. That narrows it down a bit. Based on the description in the article of the house and view + plus the name, one can narrow down the search area a bit. But a quick search on Google-Streetview didn't lead to any results.
The next step was a calculated one: become a member of a private FB-group that shares old (and new) pictures and info on the village Vreeland. I posted that picture and got the right answer within 5 minutes: the address is Sluisje (Small Lock) 12, and indeed it was a beautiful home next to a lockkeeper house. It wàs a beautiful home. But it was demolished in 2011, to make room for a new one. In the 70ies
In the 2000's

Nice detective work KJ. If you get stuck with another investigation you could always give Piet a call - I hear he's quite good.

Alright, I guess I'm on the educational Holland thread train now California Saga is usually given the distinction of the Beach Boys song with the highest number of Beach Boys singing on it (8), but I've been going through the Holland vocal arrangements closely (with help) and I'm now pretty sure there's another song on the same album with just as many. The chorus of California Saga (meaning the song, I ain't calling it California Saga: California) has a three-part harmony stack at its core with a lot of Beach Boys clustered together: Bruce & Al on the top note, then Carl & Brian, then Ricky, Dennis & Mike all on the bottom. Blondie's above them all on a falsetto "oooo" (I think recorded by itself since it's much louder in the single mix, leaving open the possibility that he could also be singing with Al and Bruce) and the "get yourself in that" is a two-part Al and Mike harmony. 8 Beach Boys however you look at it. BUT The Trader appears to have all of them singing at once plus their manager. Mostly a simple triad but in a couple of octaves, which is why it sounds so massive. In the first chord of the second verse: A4 - Bruce & Blondie F#4 - Brian & Al D4 - Carl A3 - Dennis F#3 - Ricky D3 - Mike A2 - Jack I've gone over this on a microscopic level and the only one I'm not absolutely 100% positive about is Ricky, but I do think I hear him an octave below Brian in places and logically someone would be covering that note. The rest are all definitely there, including Bruce (sticks out a lot on "totally believed him") and Brian (probably the most prominent voice during the verses once you lock in, he's belting it out in his chest voice like he rarely ever did in the early 70s & sounds awesome). There's a part at the start of the "trader said they're not as good" verse where Bruce and Brian are initially the only ones on their notes, then Blondie and Al jump in to double them. Crazy powerful moment. Can't stop repeating now I've noticed it. I wouldn't be surprised if these vocals were done at the same time as California Saga, considering who's involved. And of course the backing vocals in the second half of the song are Marilyn, Diane and Carl. All Trader's missing at this point are cameos from David Marks, Billy Hinsche, Murry, Audree, Val Poliuto, Jasper Dailey and that mystery guy on Lazy Lizzie. What about HE COME DOWN? Not from Holland of course, but from the same guys who would soon give us Holland! How many voices are on that? Blondie wailing away on top of the gospel choruses from the others, and that thunderous fill choir effect on "Yes I believe it!" toward the end...Yowza! Who all do you hear on this song?

SMiLE-Holland, was it known in the private Facebook group that a Beach Boy had lived in the house prior to you posting?

Nope, they didn't mention it at all, until I did. They did give a few names of previous owners. I'll try to figure out which one(s) lived there in 1972.

Were they impressed, or were they like "oh, drummers from famous rock bands came to live around here all the time"?

Something in between I guess. Surprised but not necessarily impressed. After all the focus of this group is the village’s history regarding the buildings first and former inhabitants second. But it’s a very kind group who generously gave me some information.

Is that Dennis, left? Hard to tell with his head turned away… doesn't look entirely like him.

February, 1972? Everybody's there. Bruce, Blondie, and Ricky on the same stage. Mike wearing an original Beach Boys Pendleton shirt.

I figured it might be AGD correcting me - not you, John! As Mike said at the time when someone in the crowd asked where Brian was, "Where's Brian? Brian is in our music".

Amazing thread...Bruce's garb here is very similar to what Greg and Peter were wearing on The Brady Bunch at the time. There would be further wardrobe challenges in subsequent decades... Attachments:

Brian is in our music". Practically everybody. 🙂 The first gig both Ricky and Blondie were on stage with them. Just a few days later in England they would be officially announced as 2 official new BB’s.
