I was doing some research of something totally unrelated, and for the first time ever, I found the article that Fred LaBour wrote in which he "broke the news" that Paul McCartney had been dead since 1966. I love how this rumor spread so fast, despite the fact that the article is obviously satirical! But check out what it says about Smile.

That was really funny and the smile stuff icing. It is odd crazy rumors could spread so fast in those days....or maybe not, way more people listened to the radio and watched network tv. Plus for as much fake bs today say on the internet, the opportunity is there to dispel it quicker....maybe.

It is a snapshot of life that year - with Funny Girl in the theaters and what things cost. I loved it, so thanks for sharing and posting it!

Advertising in old newspapers and really old magazines is a great way to open a time capsule. Pick up anything from say the 1930's, '40's....the ads for home appliances are hilarious. And, it seems to be the case, that if you had a fridge full of meat in those days you were king of the neighborhood.
