Born this day 78 years ago. Here's a hidden gem he sang on and wrote the words to.
Sheer aural bliss...

Happy Birthday Mike Love
Thanks for all of the lyrics, lead vocals, and great shows over the last half century plus.

Happy Birthday, Mike!
Every year when Mike's birthday rolls around, I think about the time the Beatles wished him Happy Birthday - 1968 in Rishikesh.

Happy 78th! Good a place as any to mention something about Mike that never receives nearly enough attention. Mike’s bass vocals are ass kicking! We mainly focus on the lead vocals and the nasal stuff and lyric credits but think of what Mike’s bass vocals add to a song like In My Room. Outstanding!

Never forget to add a little Love. Meant to post this yesterday, but the day got too busy. And the movie-maker didn't do too good a job, but it was the best one on the topic that I could find. Alan's much better clip doesn't seem to be on youtube. Should be, because isn't Endless Harmony DVD long out of print?
Anyway, this is the image I had the first time I saw Mike (and the Beach Boys) on Tv. Wow!!! Were those pants going to be the next style? At the time I knew very little about surfing, or any of the surfer words. I had heard the album, but I hardly knew who was who.
This is from The Red Skelton Show, 24 September 1963:

Rules, rules, rules. Don't like to be bossed around. The up-loader did a whack video transition to another performance, and has the nerve to demand the clip can only be seen on his channel. Click the link to watch. Does he get a fee for up- loading clips. More and more advertising on youtube these days.

Couple more. Mike is probably napping right now after his Big Birthday Bash, so won't notice anyway.
Beautiful, huh?

...Then add those vocals, what Mike is best at - with Mike's best singing and writing partner:
perfection.

I went to a HMV a few weeks ago and it had it in stock. Good news for our friends on the other side of the world! Neat. I looked it up. Released in Japan and the UK (2014), both in Region 2 (only). With a new cover, to boot. Glad Alan is working at keeping it out in the universe. The print is too small to read, but it looks like all the extras are there.
I would buy it again if he could get a Blu-ray release happening in America. And if possible, add more stuff to it! We need more of the videos and Tv appearances in quality presentation. Please, Alan. A favorite possession of mine. I watch it often, especially the extras.
