How many times have you been listening to a song, only to imagine how it would've sounded if it was recorded by The Beach Boys? What if Brian produced it, what if Mike sang it, what if it featured The Beach Boys' trademark harmonies? Maybe it's an album cut or a hit single. Maybe it's a new song or a Golden Oldie. Can you think of any songs that you wish The Beach Boys would've recorded - either years ago or today?
Here's two songs I'm proposing for The Beach Boys' new rock and roll album. They could be Tracks 1 and 2 on Side 1.
The opening track for the album would feature a Brian Wilson lead vocal:
Track 2 would feature a lead vocal by Al Jardine and the "dontcha know that she's" by Mike Love. I can just hear those great Beach Boys' harmonies singing "fine...so fine...". Then comes David Marks with a cool guitar solo and the closing tag with the Spector-like piano played by Bruce. The album would be off to a rockin' start:

First, I just want to thank you for the thread title, which with any luck will help wipe from my mind the title of a similar thread at one of the other boards: "Name One Song You'd Wish the BBs Should Have Covered." Grammatically speaking, I just could not handle that thread title. It hurt me.
As for some answers, how about these?
It isn't hard to imagine Big Star's "Thirteen" being arranged with some fantastic background vocals by the BBs that go well beyond what are on the song in its original form.
And while we're in the power pop world, how about the Raspberries' "Go All The Way"? Especially in the Blondie-on-guitar years, it would have been something special.

How about this track with a Brian’s back-era production?

I've always thought some of the better Association tracks, like The Time It Is Today, Everything that Touches You, Cherish and Along Comes Mary would sound interesting with Beach Boy vocals for sure.
Ive always wanted a Beach Boys version of the outro from Judy Suite Blue Eyes (originally recorded by CSN.)

SWING LOW SWEET CHARIOT
Brian & Jan recorded a cover of DON'T YOU JUST KNOW IT. I believe that song's verse is derived from Swing Low. And, I believe the verse from SURF CITY is derived from Don't You Just Know it.
Wouldn't it have been nice to have the Beach Boys, with accompaniment by The Baldwin, to have recorded that inspirational song?

I'd have liked to hear a BB take on Uriah Heep's Lady in Black.

I've always thought that they should have covered The Bee Gees "Alone" with a Carl Wilson lead vocal. I can just hear him singing the last line in the chorus now:- "And I don't wanna be alone".

There are a couple of Eric Carmen / Raspberries songs that would have made fun Beach Boys tracks. This one sounds like something Mike would enjoy:

That's a good song; I never heard it before. I was surprised at Jeff's vocal. He almost sounds like a shouty 1980's Brian Wilson - but in a good way.

They should have recorded IT'S LIKE HEAVEN instead of Spring.
The idea of doing ROCK AND ROLL LULLABY in 1980 should also have moved forward as well.
BTW, Carl's single from his LP YOUNGBLOOD called WHAT YOU DO TO ME was a song that Val Garay brought to the Beach Boys when he tried out as a producer for their 1982 LP COUSINS FRIENDS AND BROTHERS. Carl brought it to Skunk to use on his LP.

Speaking of the Association, I've long thought that "Like Always" was a perfect fit for a BB cover. That song sounds like it could be a tribute to the BBs.

Obviously inspired by, but wish Jeff had done our Cali-lads a good ‘un and handed this ‘80s beauty over, instead of later wasting his time with those washed-up Liverpudlians.

Agreed on both counts. Both great songs. When 'Rock & Roll Lullaby' came out, I bought the single thinking The Beach Boys sang backgrounds on it. Sounds just like 'em! And though only partial vocals were recorded, I always thought that 'Sandy She Needs Me' shoulda been finished in '65. A second shot at 'Battle Hymn Of The Republic' woulda been nice...... 'After The Gold Rush' sung by The Boys as a group? Anybody?

I'd go for that, Mikie. Dennis on this: And on this: And Carl on this: Blondie on this (inspired by Sos):
