David Johansen, the leader of the New York Dolls and also a.k.a. Buster Poindexter of "Hot Hot Hot" fame, has a small role in the larger Beach Boys story because of his 1981 album Here Comes the Night. That album is a collaboration with Blondie Chaplin, who co-produced, wrote almost all the music, played all the guitar, and sang the backing vocals. The inner sleeve photo is David and Blondie together. To me, it's a major highlight of both of their careers. Anyway, David is severely ill and recently suffered a terrible injury, and his family needs help to care for him. If you can, if his music has touched you at all, please donate. David is a treasure. www.sweetrelief.org/davidjohansenfund.html

Blondie's social media just posted a video message for David. It's a bit of a tough watch as Blondie seems devastated.
