Hi all!
I didn't know where to post this, and even though I don't post often on this forum, I do frequent this board quite a lot.
My co director and I have been working on a fan animated short for the past 5 years based on the entirety of Mount Vernon and Fairway (very much inspired by 1970s Fred Wolf animation like the Point), and we just finished this past summer (our originally intention was to finish by the 50th anniversary of Holland, but we didn't make it.)
I wanted to share this with everyone on these forums, and hope everyone enjoys this massive labor of love.
I also want to add, there is a higher resolution version of this short film coming out a bit later, but our preferred viewing version of this short is this version.
Hope everyone enjoys this!

It's very charming. Love the vivid colors! Is this hand drawn cells? Looks fantastic. And the music is timeless.

We animated this all in Photoshop and composited in After Effects, edited it in Premiere originally but then Resolve, and then took a hi res version (2400x1800) that will be released down the way, transferred that on VHS, and then transferred the video from the VHS back to digital.

The Mount Vernon EP is one of my all-time favourites, so I guess you can imagine how much I absolutely adored this. Incredible work! Loved the little nods to Smiley Smile and Wild Honey. I really hope people close to the band get to see this. Your work deserves wider exposure!

A wonderful marriage of animation and music. Thank you for enhancing my appreciation of this "magic transistor radio" experience.

Beautifully done, SC. I had never warmed to the narration on MV&F, preferring the wordless Fairy Tale Music on the 30 Years box set, but this has converted me, so thank you!
One small complaint is the fact that the "Special Thanks" page is impossible to read. Otherwise it was a joy to watch!

One small complaint is the fact that the "Special Thanks" page is impossible to read. Otherwise it was a joy to watch! I also noticed this but I loved the VHS look. It took me right back to my childhood of watching cartoons on VHS tapes with bad tracking. 😊

This is just what the fairy tale needs -- well done! (Add me to the list of folks who'd like to read the Special Thanks credits.)

If only because people are unable to see the finer details that will be more apparent in the hi-res version. Here's the special thanks, as well as a scene that has a few easter eggs within it (I don't know how to make these two photos bigger but you can see them as attachments) Attachments:

My better half and I are just crazy about end-credits. Everyone else has long left the cinema and we're glued to the lists of names until the bitter end. I see the young prince is playing "A Casual Look". Very cool! As for the portraits, one looks to me like a young Jack Rieley and the other (at a wild guess) Machiel Botman but I'm probably way off the mark...

I noticed the boat from the Holland cover in the film -- that was a nice nod.

I had another look through -- with the sound off. Caught the nods to Smiley Smile/Wild Honey/Holland. Of course, there's the famous woodie at the start. At 1:01 one of the people in the portraits looks like Mike! And at 10:27, there's the famous surfboard-carrying session on the beach. There's bound to be more... Nice touches indeed!

Wonderful work! Would love to see a non VHS version. I get what you were going for but VHS is, was and always will be horrible looking.

There's something in his demeanour that made me think of Jack, as in this photo (that hand): Maybe the Chuckling One can put us out of our misery...

Another thing... I'd quite forgotten how good the Fairytale music is.

I didn't watch every piece of the video. Were any the Fairytale music tracks used in the video without Jack's voice? The music by itself is really good.

The animated short film sets the complete 12-minute fairy tale with Jack narrating and Brian as the Pied Piper. I agree that "Fairy Tale Music" on the GV30 box set with songs but no narration is a wonderful listen: But the video has drawn me closer to the "original".

keeping the resolution low was a good thing, gave it a vintage vibe. enjoyed watching it very much. thank you for making it.
