What's your verdict? Do you think Dark Side of the Moon syncs up with the Wizard of Oz, or not so much? Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the pairing. I've tried it twice and both times felt the lyrics didn't match more than they did. What's more, the downcast vibe the album gives off contrasts pretty heavily with the whimsical tone of Oz. I made a pairing of the United States of America and Fritz Lang's Metropolis once. I called it The American Metropolitan Circus. Unfortunately the completed version which I uploaded on YouTube was taken down for copyright and either I accidently deleted my master copy or never saved it properly. So until/unless I feel like getting back into that, all that remains are some test edits off my old YouTube channel. The ones I’d recommend viewing are Version E and Version D. The best start-time is as soon as the German credits (and not the earlier ones added by later distributors) come on. It should sync up so that the sampled carnival music plays during the opening credits, then starts getting trippy once the Metropolis title-card appears on screen. The first song should end about when the workers enter the underground factories and the subtitles rise up. Ideally, the starting point for the second track should coincide with the runners beginning their race (when the referee’s arm comes down.) Unfortunately, none of these copies are perfect--I had to manipulate the breaks between each track to get them all to line up perfectly in that now-lost edit. Are there any other cool synchronizations between film and music out there?

I did it once, and I think it's merely coincidence.
From what I remember, there were three or four moments that seemed to synch, but as I've found sitting at the bar while there's something on the TV and music playing, those little "synch" moments tend to occur a lot. One incident was when there was a Family Guy rerun on TV, and somebody played a song by Avantasia on the jukebox, and the song almost perfectly synched with a scene of Brian, the dog, playing guitar and singing.

I was lucky enough to give your original pairing a reasonably extended listen (at Smiley) before it got pulled. I noticed those test edits (love the alias!) but yes, I was under the impression they were flawed (in your opinion). So if there's one you'd recommend, it's Version E... I only wish the day were just a little longer--say another 30 hours. Goodness, C, you have been busy! Still, I'd guess you never were a doing-things-by-halves person. The opening track is still fresh in my memory--I was listening to it only last Sunday. I've heard about this Floyd/Oz sync thing but I guess this is something that can only work once.
