I looked in here today with the intention of closing the poll but lo and behold there's been a new voter so I'll leave it open for the moment... Might have been me. Also, good, 'cause I just changed one of my votes.

Well, the top five right now are "Our Sweet Love” (12 votes), "Leaving This Town" (9 votes), "Cherry, Cherry Coupe" (8 votes) and "Hold On, Dear Brother" and "Transcendental Meditation" (7 votes each). One month later, "Our Sweet Love" is up to thirteen votes. "Leaving This Town" still has nine, followed by "Cherry, Cherry Coupe", "Let's Go Away For Awhile" and "Transcendental Meditation" with eight votes apiece.

What did Barbara Ann ever do to end up here?? No idea. It's a fun party song. Nothing extraordinary but a good time when it comes on. Perhaps it's a bit overplayed...?

I always wondered, why did “Barbara Ann,” a doo-wop song recorded by The Regents in 1958 but not even released until 1961, which only reached number 13, and was subsequently recorded by Jan and Dean for their 1962 “Jan and Dean’s Golden Hits LP (even though the song was never released as a single nor was a hit for Jan and Dean), end up such a huge hit (in a hastily recorded 1965 session for a stop-gap quickie album by The Beach Boys) and fan favorite that it was the encore for countless (probably every single) Beach Boys (and Jan and Dean) concert for the last 60 years?
(And how did that sentence get so long?)

A NY Times best selling author once told me, "How a person writes is often a good indication of how they think." So, that long sentence, which appears to be error-free, is to your credit. Be glad, because not too many people have even basic writing skills any more nowadays. As for 'Barbara Ann', yeah, that's a good question. (The ProBoards quoting feature gives me a hard time.)

(And how did that sentence get so long?) Because Barbara Ann is the easiest of sing-a-long songs. This isn’t just a Beach Boys and Jan & Dean deal either. The Brian Wilson Band used it as an encore song too.

How did "Goin' South" get voted as the worst track on an album that also contains the disco version of "Here Comes the Night"? And how could "Our Sweet Love" be the worst track on ANY album? My dad used to say that in taste, there is no dispute. I guess he was right.

My dad used to say that in taste, there is no dispute. I guess he was right. It’s quite a disparity. I could easily pick “Our Sweet Love” as the best song on Sunflower.

I looked in here today with the intention of closing the poll but lo and behold there's been a new voter so I'll leave it open for the moment... My goodness -- three more voters!

And the votes are still coming thick and fast -- it's now up to 185 by 38 voters! "Our Sweet Love" looks unbeatable with 21 votes, followed by "Leaving This Town" (13) and "Let’s Go Away For Awhile" (11). I'll be leaving this poll open now until it automatically gets closed on the last day of the year.

Almost four months on and I’m still amazed that a beautiful song like Our Sweet Love made onto a “Worst of” list. Though, I am happy to see it doing well in this poll.🙂

There's a new voter in town! That said, there's no change in the top three, with "OSL" at 22 votes, "LTT" at 13 and "LGAFA" at 12.

And the votes keep coming. We'll soon be up to 200 at this rate. I see "Hold On, Dear Brother" has now joined "Let's Go Away For Awhile" in third place with 12 votes apiece. The first two places are unchanged, with "Leaving This Town" in second place at 13 votes and "Our Sweet Love" way ahead of the pack at 22.

Just voted. Never (well, rarely) look far beyond the main discussions area of the board (time restraints). Always find it hard to identify a “worst” of anything, as this band’s worst is usually far better than most bands’ best.
